Haha, it wasn't so much the name in and of itself that struck me, more so that THAT character had that name. Knowing Fargo/Noah Hawley, it seemed like the name had to have some kind of significance. Turns out it did! Also it goes without saying that I loved how that scene was a fairly obvious homage to the Big Lebowski. The way it was framed, in a bowling alley, with a character speaking to an older, seemingly omniscient man who offers vague guidance. Also, the cat maybe being a subtle nod to "Inside Llewelyn Davis". ...Maybe. Haha. Good call. I googled that just now and he says "grandson of the Wolves Hundred", which after ALSO googling, seems to (possibly?) be a reference to this. Or this. More likely the latter. Or neither, haha.
All of this new information now really has my gears turning about Paul appearing to Gloria twice, and her relationship (or severe lacktherof) with technology
While the bowling alley was a clear "Lebowski" reference, the kitten was likely a nod to "Inside Llewyn Davis."
SHIT my bad haha. Here's the second one: Meet the Cossack 'Wolves' Doing Russia's Dirty Work in Ukraine I kind of wonder if Yuri losing an ear is any way linked to this. I'm probably overthinking on this one haha. But it's fun to speculate and theorize wildly either way.
So Yuri is dead, right? They said he didn't come back and after his encounter with Paul at the bowling alley, I just figured he was dead. Plus he was bleeding pretty profusely. What a great throw with that axe. Back to that scene, was Golem the only one there besides Nikki and the other guy she was chained to? I'm trying to remember, but it looked like they were being attacked by both Golem and Yuri - Yuri shooting the crossbow and Golem making his swipe attacks.
Yeah it looked like Meemo must have went back to Emmit's when they went to chase Nikki and Wrench. As for what Paul did to Yuri, whatever it is it's probably worse than just death haha
And they shouldn't. LIke The Coens, this doesn't need to take time to address the weirder parts of its stories.
Just realized there's a bit of parallel too with Paul Marrane and the seemingly otherworldly Sheriff from "O Brother Where Art Thou?", who may or may not have been the devil. I don't think Marrane is the devil or even a demonic being, but there's some neat parallel there I guess ha.
You guys don't think there's going to be more? This was just a tease, like all the drawings of the UFO in season 2. The payoff was the appearance of it at such a pivotal moment. I think we're going to get a cathartic scene in the finale when Nikki remembers what Paul told her to say perfectly.
Yeah that with Nikki is probably going to happen considering the clear foreshadowing. My question is whether Paul will actually appear in a meaningful way again. Because Nikki can fulfill his request without him showing back up. Going to be an interesting final two hours for sure.
This was my favorite episode of the season, and maybe the most abstract one they've ever done in the series. This is far beyond the UFO thing in my opinion
Yeah the UFO thing was pretty cut and dry, it was the unexpectedness of it that made it weird. This is something a lot more dense.
Just started this show. I figured I'd watch one episode before bed. Next thing I know I'm five episodes in and it's three hours until I have to get up for work.
Sad to see Hawley confirming this might be it for the show, but three excellent seasons of television is nothing to sneeze at. If he doesn't have it in him anymore for now, that's fine. I highly doubt he never comes back and does another season though. It might be years down the line, but I bet we will get more of this series eventually.
For real though. Wife and I are house sitting and watching all of her brother's kids aND it's making me crazy cause I just wanna watch Fargo.
I'm not too worried about all the talk of this being the final season. Noah just said he doesn't have a story in mind for another season, not that he doesn't want to do one. I'm guessing it'll be a few years, which sucks, but I'd be surprised if we never get another
