Alright....Really didn't go to plan here. I had pick 6, was fully expecting to pick Dalvin...but then Cooper Kupp fell to 6. I felt like I couldn't NOT draft him there even though I'm not expecting anything close to last year's performance. Sigh. Once that happened, it really threw me off for the rest of the draft. Ended up basically going zero RB without meaning to. It's a keeper league where we can keep 2 players and they ALWAYS take the place of our 4th and 5th round picks if we keep them, and no one drafted in the first 3 rounds can be kept. I kept no one this year. It's half point PPR, 12 team league

    QB-Tom Brady
    RB-Josh Jacobs
    RB-Kareem Hunt
    WR-Cooper Cupp
    WR-Mike Evans
    TE-Pat Freiermeuth
    W/R/T-Gabe Davis

    D/ST-Philly
    K-Daniel Carlson

    Bench-Dameon Pierce
    Bench-Devin Singletary
    Bench-Michael Carter
    Bench-George Pickens
    Bench-Justin Fields
    Bench-Romeo Doubs

Great at WR, got Brady in the 8th or 9th round....but yeah that's a rough RB group. Whole bunch of RB3s. Hopefully at least one of them can break out into a good season. The weekly start/sit decisions are going to be annoying AF.

EKELER AT 6TH PICK???? Jealous. I had 3rd pick in my main money league and still couldn’t get him. However, in my other league we both share the Herbert/Ekeler stack and I’m gonna be loving it!

Man, first pick is rough. 12-team, .5ppr, 2RB/2WR/2Flex league with no TE or K spot.

    QB: Stafford
RB: Taylor, Javonte, Penny, Robinson, Davis
WR: AJ Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Marquise Brown, Metcalf, London, Meyers, Burks
    D/ST: Colts

Was dying laughing when I went with 3 Browns at WR...but yeah, not as top heavy as I'd like. Gonna need a couple WRs to break out so I can upgrade my RBs

12 team half PPR. 2 RB, 2 WR, 2 flex, no kickers, picked 9th

    QB: Kyler Murray

RB: Cook, Barkley, Edmonds, Gibson, Henderson, Rachaad White (last round panic pick I was gonna take Brian Robinson)

WR: AJ Brown, Sutton, Godwin, Michael Thomas, Woods, Gallup(IR)

    Colts D/ST

Fully bought into the Bruce Arians no risk it no biscuit theory as the board fell. I didn't expect Cook at 9, somehow the top 3 WR all went top 5.

My plan was to expect a choice between Swift and Mixon at 9, grab Barkley or someone who fell after the turn, then WR WR and hope for Elijah Mitchell in the 5th. Just missed him by a few picks and QB flew off the board, including Hurts, before me so I decided not to miss that boat and snag Murray

Typically getting that 9th pick you are thinking Swift & Barkley/Kamara but getting Cook at 9 is insane. Love that!

It is obviously fun to have those top 3 WR’s but when Zeke is your RB1 is doesn’t feel as nice haha

Exactly what I was thinking and then the WRs went quick and I was like ummm what's happening here. Only a small pivot off of my original plan. Missed out on stashing D-Hop by two picks too, that would have been really nice. I think that was the same round I ended up taking MT.

I usually end up doing a ton of wheeling and dealing so if the injury risk ends up the bad way then I'll probably still salvage something

Had my "main league" keeper league auction draft last night. It was....weird AF. I feel like I say that every year because weird stuff tends to happens in auction leagues....but yeah this was definitely the weirdest year in my memory. The biggest culprit there IMO is when COVID hit, we adjusted our 3 year keeper rule and basically didn't count 2020 towards that rule. That meant everyone got an extra year of keeper eligibility, and this year is the last year that should be impacting it, so a LOT of people were kept. We limit keepers to one QB, one RB, one WR, one TE, one any position, and one rookie....and even with those limits it was a LOT of people kept. For relatively cheap prices too (we charge a 10% premium on whatever the guy was drafted at the year before, and all FA pickups get defaulted to $5 for keeper purposes). The other thing is that rookie keeper slot a lot of people put more importance on it so rookie draft values tend to get inflated, but that was more exaggerated this year for whatever reason.

Anyway, now that you've read the origin story to my recipe, here's the team I ended up with. K's next to my keepers. 10 team PPR

    QB-Kirk Cousins $2
    RB-Aaron Jones $45
    RB-Chase Edmonds $17 (K)
    WR-Mike Evans $40
    WR-Brandon Cooks $9 (K)
    WR-Terry McLaurin $7 (K)
    TE-Mark Andrews $5 (K)
    W/R/T-Gabe Davis $28

    K-Matt Gay $1
    D/ST-Philly $1

    Bench-Miles Sanders $10
    Bench-Derek Carr $2
    Bench-Rashaad Penny $4
    Bench-Melvin Gordon III $4
    Bench-Michael Carter $1
    Bench-Raheem Mostert $1
    Bench-Devin Singletary $18

Like...that last name right there, weird AF. Basically we were down towards the end of hte draft and Singletary hadn't been nominated yet. So suddenly there was a few guys with a bunch of money left and not sure where to spend it, and Singletary having current starter status was enough to get dudes to throw money at him lol. I could have kept him for $2 but kept Edmonds instead on the assumption that Edmonds would go for way more than $17...I'm not sure if I was right or not hah.

Zeor WR depth! I didn't really target Penny/Gordon/Carter, they just kinda happened. Got decent value on them but also wasn't really expecting to end up with them. Carter for $1 especially, I nominated him for $1 and no one bid. He IS the current starter so was kinda surprised there. I might drop him for a WR though just for some depth. There were some decent WR's that went undrafted.

Three is the sweet spot for me. Unfortunately, I've been down to two leagues the past several years. I was once at 4 (way too many) and due to my one league being super weird, I prefer to be in a third league, but oh well. Below are my two teams.

First league - main big $ league with friends for the past 15 years. 10-team league.

    Josh Allen
    Mike Williams
    Jaylen Waddle
    Austin Ekeler
    D'Andre Swift
    Pat Freiermuth
    Cam Akers
    Matt Prater
    Indy D

    Bench:
J.K. Dobbins (meant to pick Josh Jacobs here, but ran out of time - pretty pissed)
    Antonio Gibson
    Michael Thomas
    Cordarrelle Patterson
    Kadarius Toney
    James Robinson

Second league - old work, small $ league I've been in for 15 years. 8 teams, 2 QB league and a fucking bizarre scoring/line-up set-up.

    Justin Herbert
    Trey Lance
    Mike Evans
    Tyreek Hill
    Gabe Davis
    Michael Thomas
    Dalvin Cook
    Leonard Fournette
    David Montgomerty
    Dallas Goedert
    Tylar Bass
    N.O. D

    Bench:
    Damien Harris
    Antonio Gibson
    Hunter Renfrow
    Tony Pollard

12 team, keep 4 at no penalty but can only keep for 3 seasons:

    QB: Josh Allen
    WR: CeeDee Lamb
    WR: Michael Thomas
    WR: Jakobi Meyers
    RB: Javonte Williams
    RB: Travis Etienne
    Flex: Josh Jacobs
    TE: Kyle Pitts
Bench: Breece Hall, Treylon Burks, Isaiah McKenzie, Darrell Henderson, Skyy Moore, Raheem Mostert

WR3 (and maybe even 2!) is obviously iffy rn, but I'm feeling good elsewhere. Probably highest variance of potential outcomes team I've ever had, but if it goes well I'm set up really nice for 2-3 years.

I’m in 4 leagues I really care about…my main 10 team keeper league auction league that we’ve been doing with HS buddies since like 2004. We made the switch to keeper auction in 2011, if not earlier than that. Then, My buddy that runs that HS league co-manages a team in a big money league with me in his older brothers league, a 12 teamer. Then one of the guys in that league runs another big money, 16 team keeper league that I joined last year as a solo owner (same buddy that’s in my main HS league and co-manages the 12 team big money league is also in this 16 teamer lol), and then finally a smaller prize pool 12 team league with a different group of guys I met at various ages middle school-college that all knew each other as well. It is…a lot. If I’m being honest that last 12 teamer really fell off my radar a bit last year on Sunday’s. But I’ve won that league 4 times in like 12 years now, went back to back my first two years and then back to back again right before covid.

I also do a small $20 league that my buddy’s wife runs with friends and family of hers, that’s mostly an eff it just for fun league. i honestly forget to do waivers on there sometimes.

I also do a few daily fantasy lineups when I feel like it, just throw like $2 at the big money tourneys and hope to get lucky basically. AND this year the same high school friend from that main league that I’m also in the two big money leagues with talked me into doing an NFFC draft this year, my first time after he convinced me to try a NFBC one for this baseball season.

buds league draft tonight (2QB, .5 PPR) 10 team

    QB - Lamar, Fields, DJones
RB - CMC, Chubb, Singletary, Brian Robinson
WR - Lamb, Godwin, ARob, MT, London
    TE - Pitts
    D - 49ers

wish I had better depth at RB but I don't hate my receiving group. also hope fields can score like 50 TDs on his feet this year as he will be running for his life.

also this league with two QBs is wild, someone took josh Allen first overall tonight lmao. also I had to pick fields in like the 6th round because it was dwindling down that bad.
