we've seen the shadow of the axe before Supporter

After taking a loss this week, I’ll be 6-6 and facing a must win matchup this week to make the playoffs.

Having nightmares figuring out which WRs to start next week. I have Chark, Kupp, Brown, Landry, and Parker.

Chark and Kupp are locked in, but keep going back and forth between Landry and Parker this week. Surely that YD streak for Landry is coming to and right? Brown has been in there most of the season for me (including last two weeks) but going against Dallas secondary this week kind of worries me. I like DeVante Parker’s matchup, but again - don’t want to see Landry go off and catch another TD on my bench.

So, I always find it useful to remove TDs from the scoring (as they can be a little random for everyone but elite players), and see what target/catches/yards do. So, this is a comparison of the last 5 weeks:

    Player A: 45 targ/28 rec/411yds
    Player B: 53 targ/34 rec/404yds

Functionally, I'd call them even, but for Landry having more TDs. So, because Landry has more TD upside, it would seem to argue for him, but, he also had his worst game of that 5 game stretch against PIT (4/43), and that was at home versus the road.

Basically, if you want a steady 5-6 catch, 80ish yards, but low TD upside, you go Parker. If you need breakout potential but with a downside, you go Landry.

edit: I'm assuming John Brown; yeah, id probably take the other two matchups over him.

Thanks for the feedback. And yeah I went John Brown this week after his 30 pointer last week, which is what scares me a bit off of Landry. Parker hasn’t had a TD in 3 games, and so I’m expecting one this game. And the home/road split certainly crossed my mind as well for Landry against Pitt. If he is covered by slot corner Hilton, then he has a plus matchup. But still think Pitt’s secondary has been a strong suit. If Albert Wilson is out and that should make my decision a bit easier.

Dolphins may be putting Wilson and Grant on IR so Parker and Allen Hurns are literally the only WRs left worth a shit

hes gonna get a lot of targets

Needing 16 from Andrews while he’s hardly on the field for the first couple Baltimore drives sure is fun

Lamar already has 19pts and we aren’t even in the 2nd half. Fuck

I've been lucky in fantasy this year. Being matched up against Lamar when he played Pittsburgh is up there.

That Cooper Kupp drop to INT was brutal. My league has one team at 8-3, five at 7-4, and one at 6-5....the 6-5 team would have lost this week (functionally ensuring the top 6, including me, make the playoffs) by <1pt if he makes that catch. Instead, now I have to win next week to ensure a playoff bid.

This league is brutal; I was 7-3, in the #1 spot, and 100pts ahead of any other team. Now Im gonna be 7-5, trailing the 8-4 team that has 400 fewer points than me, and maybe missing the playoffs.

  10. Drewski

    Maybe so, maybe not.

Even with Lamar going off for my opponent, my LAST SECOND swap of Carr for Jimmy G is gonna cause me to miss the playoffs by 0.4 points in one league. Absolutely brutal.

If Lamar doesnt fall down on that early TD run and end up at the 1, you're in the playoffs. Yay fantasy!

Sitting in the final playoff spot at 6-6. 5 teams right behind me at 5-7. Win and I'm in, lose and tiebreaker is points scored. I have a 72 point or greater advantage on 4 of those teams, but the 5th one is only 20 back and has Lamar. I definitely need to win or I'm in danger

Kupp has been brutal the last 3 weeks. He has one good (great) game his last 6 games. Am I crazy for considering benching him this week to get Landry + Parker in? It would appear to be a get-right matchup with the Cards, but Goff has been terrible lately, too.

edit: I’m thinking I’m crazy and need to just leave Kupp locked in based on his upside alone.

ended up missing by 9.6 points in my league where I was the favorite to win in literally all 12 weeks

    gotta love it

I pretty much have to win this week. I’m in a 3 way tie for 2nd at 7-5. And then we have 4 people at 6-6. And my matchup is against one of the 6-6 teams. I do not have any faith at all though. My last 4 weeks I put up 121 and then 3 sub 110 with one being in the 80s.

I’m really hoping Saquon can put up a 2018 Saquon game this week.

Also Watson is up against NE this week and the 49ers DST are up against Baltimore so I’m considering a streaming replacement for both.

So San Fran's D has been pretty much matchup proof this year in fantasy but...do I dare start them against Lamar Jackson?

I'm thinking of letting it roll.

My team has no business being in the playoffs this year, but here we are. I'm 6-6 in 6th place … and then there are two 5-7 teams (with more points) right behind me. I win and I'm in. OF COURSE I'm facing Mahomes/Hill against Oakland and my Watson/Hopkins is facing NE.

However, there is a team in my league which has: CMC, Dalvin Cook, Kupp, Kittle, Freeman, Golladay, Brady, etc. and are most likely missing the playoffs.

I’m considering it too but Lamar makes me nervous lol

6-6 with the second most points scored and second most points against, facing an 8-4 team who has had the opposite luck as me. He has the 8th most points scored and 2nd fewest against. I feel good about it but I probably shouldn't.

My QB is Watson and he's facing the Patriots. Should I grab Darnold (@CIN) or Tannehill (@IND) instead for this week?

If there is anyone who can make Lamar look bad, I think it'd be San Fran's D. They absolutely gobbled up Rodgers on Sunday night.

My opponent has Lamar too, which kind of makes me want to do it even more.

However, this is also a MUST win week for me and Jets D vs Cin is available on the wire...as is Jacksonville vs TB, GB vs Giants. I know those are better matchups, but honestly, I think San Fran can have just as good of a week as any of them.

    Yeah that’s a good point.

I have Philadelphia vs MIA available on my waivers so I’m considering trying to pick them up.

In 3rd place in my league right now, clinched a playoff spot im pretty sure and im also facing the last place team who is 2-10 and aptly named The Miami Dolphins. I really hated my draft this year but this was the first year I committed to the waiver wires (I never used to and always failed because of it) and I can solely thank pick ups like Kenyan Drake and Jonathon Williams for my recent winning streak. Jonathon Williams just may take me all the way!

Except the guy in first in my league has fucking Lamar and CMC.

  24. Donnie Ruth

Yeah Watson against NE is scaring me. Last year I think he threw like under 200 yards and a TD, with like 40 rushing yards. Nothing spectacular. HOWEVER, that was his week 1 NFL return from the injury, on the road, and didn't have Fuller. He was throwing to Bruce Ellington as his second WR.

This is primetime, he is obviously a much better playing now than he was week 1 coming off from an injury knocking off rust, he is home, has Fuller, has double TE's he throws to, and has receiving backs. The line is still not great but probably better than beginning of last year. Hopkins got 78 yards without having another NFL WR on the opposite side of the field.

Also we saw the only QB to have success against NE is a running QB of Jackson. Now Watson isn't Jackson and Jackson's line/coaching/etc is all on MVP level so it is hard to even compare, but if he can also make plays on his feet that is where they've been vulnerable.

They've had like 10 days to prepare … I don't know. My entire season is on the line and Watson/Hopkins are the guys I put all my stock into this season. I feel like if I start Tannehill and he puts up 9 points and Watson does well I'll be forever fucking pissed.
