Fantastic Beasts was a fake textbook written in universe so there’s not even a story to base it on.

Even more confusing as to why they tried turning it into a film franchise

Yea, it’s a disaster. But the new management at WB will either give it a final movie to put a bow on it out of mercy or just kill it and move on to a new story and new characters in the wizarding world. The movie won’t end, there’s far too much box office potential.

It’s time to get Daniel, Emma, and Rupert back together.

I think that’s the nuclear option. I can only imagine how much money they’d have to shell out to get them back. Especially Radcliffe, given his recent comments on the matter.

it would be more feasible to start with a new group of less famous actors and be able to use them for many years. The trio just have the cursed child in terms of what’s expected of them.

A young(er) Snape film with Adam Driver as the title cast

The absolute last thing the wizarding world needs is more Snape.

Besides, Adam Driver is 38 and Snape was 38 when he died. So even if he plays him as like 28 or so, Snape at that point is just an incel Hogwarts teacher who misses the girl who friend zoned him and is dead because of his actions. And Voldemort is just barely existing floating around the woods. Harry is 8 and in hell. Not exactly a magical adventure fit for the big screen.

I get why people say Adam Driver could be a young Snape since they cast much older actors for everyone who were James and Lilly’s age.

best case scenario they cast Driver and pretend Snapes age is still irrelevant and set it during the time he was a death eater and overhears the prophecy and end with the potters dead and him going to Dumbledore. That could maybe be a movie. But then the end would be just recreating some stuff we saw in the pensieve in Deathly Hallows 2.

all this to say, fuck Snape.

I think it would be cool to see an Origin of Hogwarts movie/series. That way you have connections but it’s a new story and new-ish characters.

A Marauders series is the obvious choice. You can do however many films with them in school, and still have the same cast for films when they're out of school and leading to the Potters deaths.

I disagree. I get why people want to see those characters in school, but James and Sirius were assholes, Lupin while seemingly a better person has no real issues at the time of them being assholes, and Peter is a conniving bound to be literal rat. Their growth seems to be in the 7th year or later. So a series of movies of them in school just doesn’t feel like a fun movie.

  18. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned cursed child into a movie. I recently saw it and am glad it was condensed into one play. No idea how it could have been stretched into two separate plays.

Best case scenario is they don’t adapt cursed child and come up with an original story with the legacy cast.

As long as JK is involved I don’t see her retconning Cursed Child. I guess they could set it before or after it though. But then there’s getting the original cast. That will have to be a decent chunk of change, especially for Radcliffe given his recent comments being glad to be out of Harry Potter. And then likely more for further sequels. This is just unlikely to happen. New characters with new up and coming actors they can lock into sequels for the next decade or so is probably the better road to go down.

I was talking mostly for the legacy characters to be in a film in the next 10 years or so. I don’t see all 3 coming back before then. I’m just cautiously optimistic that Rowling could come up with something other than cursed child because it was…eh

A Cursed Child movie + sequel series would make the most sense in terms of following the soft reboot trend and getting audiences to watch new stuff just for the nostalgia factor of having the original stars being side characters/cameos

The downside of a Cursed Child movie/series is everyone will be talking about the plot, which is HATED in fan circles and will very quickly be mocked if it reaches the mainstream.
