Cleveland being an easy drive from Chicago, and Toledo being between the two had a lot to do with it. Cleveland, Toledo, and Detroit being near each other gave the band a following outside of Chicago and the Chicago suburbs pretty early on. I’m sure Milwaukee and other Wisconsin spots had something similar in a different direction. Maybe even Iowa too on a smaller scale.
First time I saw them was in 2002 or 2003 at a tiny little place here that's now a childrens karate place. I can't remember off the top of my head who opened. maybe Punchline?
Only seen Fall Out and the Boys since their reunion: Riot Fest 2013 and the Hella Mega Tour. Both were incredible shows.
I had just turned 4 that year and I believe the concert was in March of 1988. Having really young parents was fucking cool. I saw Bon Jovi, New kids on the block, Clapton and The Grateful Dead by the time I was 7.
These guys are one of the bands on my bucket list I’ve somehow never seen, but I’m hoping to rectify that if they come near me this year. I was huge into them between like 03-05 and then kinda fell off for a long time, but I’ve long since come back around and need to check them off the list lol
Seen 'em twice, both after the reunion. One was the tour with TOP and Panic in San Diego, and the other was the co-headliner with Paramore in Orange County. Really great shows, both of them. I got the whole crowd to sing Grand Theft Autumn and Sugar We're Going Down in San Diego while we waited for them to come on, which was weird and pretty cool.
I think I saw them 4 times pre-break up, but 0 times post break up Edit: 4 times pre-break up, 1 time post. -2002 or 2003 with Punchline I think -2004 Warped Tour -2007 Honda Civic Tour with +44, The Academy Is, and Cobra Starship -2009 with ATL, Metro Station, Cobra Starship, and Hey Monday -2014 with Paramore
Still haven’t seen them live, definitely planning to change that as soon as I can. Also… when do we think the first single is dropping for this?
04/20/2002 w/ Green Day and Joint Eat World 09/17/2009 w/ Weezer 10/12/2009 no opener 09/18/2013 skipped openers 03/22/2015 no opener 08/27/2019 without Lil Wayne because he cancelled day-of
Only time I've ever seen Fall Out Boy was their big show at Wrigley Field in 2018. So glad that I saw Rise Against and...not very glad that I saw the first opener
