The Kids Aren't Alright, Jet Pack Blues, Novocaine, Fourth of July. Everything else I really either am indifferent to or hate (Irresistible, ST, Centuries)
I actually think SR&R is a good to great album, it has lots of variety and consistently interesting choices and production Pretty much every song on AB/AP sounds the same, and they all just sound like SR&R b-sides to me. Possibly the most I've ever disliked an album by a band I love(d)
Those four are my favourites and I like all four of them more than anything on SRAR. I love Favourite Record and Twin Skeletons too and actually really like Irresistible. The only song I don't like on there is the title track. I have no idea how anyone can listen to AB/AP and think every song sounds the same or even most of the songs. Even if you hate that album, it's way more diverse sonically than something like TTTYG or FUCT.
I have seen them 3 times on this album cycle and I still don't know the words to this song. I don't want to know the words to this song. It's cheesy Filipino game show music appropriated for arenas.
I re-listened to both AB/AP and Folie recently, and they're both really similar albums in that I hate every single that has come off of each album. If I'm being impartial, I really like Folie as a body of work, but I don't like the way it makes me feel because I still tie that album to being 16 and awful. The only nice thing I have to say about AB/AP is that I cried the first time I heard "Jet Pack Blues" and Patrick's vocal lessons are paying off big time. I just wish he sounded less screechy and sang in his lower register more.
AB/AP is just plain boring. Nothing interesting happens and half the choruses are the same. SRAR was just a better version of that, and I'm not even too keen on a lot of that.
I like all the songs off their last album and really love the kids aren't all right, but the album didn't have much replay value and I don't listen to it often. But to be fair I haven't listened to any of their albums in a while now that I think of it
The only songs that I love on AB/AS are Jet Pack Blues, Novocaine, Fourth of July and Favorite Record.
When Centuries came out I was iffy, grew to like it. But with ABAP (the song) it was instant. Just so much fucking fun. Idk I just love the album. Listening back to SRAR now I feel like a lot of the guest parts are silly, which is okay, still pretty fun.
AB/AP is the 3rd best FOB record and that's saying something because all their records are fantastic.
Oh and another thing about ABAP is that Wentz is on fire lyrically. So many classic FOB lines throughout.
Tbh I don't think they have a bad album. TTTYG is probably my least favorite, but I still love it a lot.
I think the break they took was really good for Pete's writing and for all of them to be honest. It's pretty cool when a band takes a break and then realizes they really need each other.
