not gonna bother with ranking cause Folie a Deux is so obviously their best album to me. no one involved is gonna top that I agree you could make a great album out of the three last ones
AB/AP has great songs, but it also has songs that just sound so basic radio songs with no flavor at all
Centuries, the other jock jams song and title track are quite terrible but there's a lot of good stuff on there
At least three songs on AB/AP sound like they were written for Budweiser commercials and despite what many here have said in the years since, the title track is absolutely their worst song--indulging their worst tendencies to be Weird without any of the crazy ambition that usually backs that up--but there are some jams on there. Nothing I've ever found myself itching to go back to, but if I heard Uma Thurman on the radio today I wouldn't change the channel. Ultimately that album is the one that feels the most like the one that came before it, and it only released like 18 months after SRAR. I think they were mainly trying to ride the reunion momentum at that point, for which I can't blame them. Hopefully this long silence means the next album will be something really thoughtfully considered.
I really like all the post reunion albums but they just never eclipsed Folie for me (which is their best album, but maybe only my 2nd favourite). I’m open to whatever sound they go with but if I had a preference it would basically be what Joe said - “We did start that way, as a guitar-based rock band, and it’d be cool to go back to those roots. We’d have to find a way to do it that doesn’t sound like Fall Out Boy from 2005. It might be cool for somebody else to do that, but it wouldn’t be cool for us to do it.” If they don’t do that I’m basically just hoping for more songs like Wilson / Jetpack Blues / Twin Skeletons and less songs like Centuries / Young and Menace / ABAP Exciting times!
It’s still up it just doesn’t seem to like the link! Fall Out Boy The 8 in the reflection looks very similar to the 8 that was in the paper…
SRAR gets way too much praise on this site. It’s not that good. It has big Sean and a forgettable Elton John feature. Also has only one song that I’d say is a set staple.
Folie is their best album, followed by Cork Tree and then Infinity. Everything else is okay to shitty.
Holy shit, we're really about to get a new Fall Out Boy album soon-ish. The reflection in the glass of that Tumblr pic matches the font from the FOB 8 thing in the newspaper. Along with the earlier leaked tour date in Hartford, CT, seems like a fall tour too. I'm thinking album will be spring or early summer? Bring it on!!
I still have that Rollingstone Mag in a box with all my other FOB shit from a zillion years ago. LETS FUCKING GOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
same! PAX AM Days rules. i can't stand their Imagine Dragons era. hopefully this new one isn't more of that...
