I have always felt that Mania was a perfecting of what SRAR and AB/AP were. Like they nailed it on the third try. I still like all of the albums though. Very excited to hear what’s coming
AB/AP shares a lot of the same songwriting style as TTTYG Just a different genre and better songwriters this time around.
I feel like I could make a single album I really love out of the last three. A lot of the other songs have aged really badly for me.
i would happily never listen to AB/AP ever again lol SR&R is my favorite since the hiatus, but Folie remains untouchable for me, to date.
I actually really love Fall Out Boy, even as a guy who is turning (yikes) 40 next year. However, I can't say that any of their albums are front-to-back great. They all have a few duds on them though I think SRAR is the closest (if they knocked off the song with Courtney Love).
I wonder if the recent resurgence of the pop-punk genre will influence their direction. I wouldn't want FUCT Part 2, but I would like to see a shift from their post-hiatus material.
the good half of MANIA is my favorite batch of stuff since the hiatus, but as an album SRAR is the most consistent
MANIA has some really great songs. Stay Frosty, Last of the Real Ones, Wilson, and Bishops Knife Trick. Bishops is one of my all time favorite FOB songs
I never want to hear Irresistible, AB/AP, Centuries, Uma Thurman, Immortals ever again. However I love The Kids Aren't Alright, Jet Pack Blues, Fourth of July
Honestly yeah, biggest problem with post hiatus fob is the setlist never really shaking up besides having like one song that makes people be like “oh shit they’re playing X” and the rest of it being hits
