I liked YAM and Champions but put both in the "meh, this is FOB music now. deal with it" section of my head. This new song makes me genuinely excited about the band again.
they're playing Rock in Rio next thursday, same night as Aerosmith and Def Leppard. man the hate is gonna be real. the media already had a field day with 5SOS yesterday
okay that just triggered a semi-related thought in me. I always found it funny that ppl would make fun of fob and "emo" bands for being too girly and sissy whatever for the tight jeans and eyeliner, and then go around and praise the "real" 80s rock bands who had long hair hairsprayed to the heavens and also tight pants and also makeup too?? Of course there's nothing wrong with either, but my dad would tease me for the bands I liked cause of those things and I'm like okay but u listen to Poison???
i think those get a pass because 1. nostalgia, the "in my time we had real music" bullshit and 2. 80s metal is still metal, heavily distorted guitars, unnecessarily huge drumsets, songs about manly stuff like drugs and sex and women (or so they think) but yeah they're just a bunch of hypocrites when you think about it
I get the other factors and the hypocrisy but it just kills me like. Tight skinny jeans? Unacceptable. Leather pants that leave nothing to the imagination? Rock on!
not gonna lie to you guys, I slowed the new song down 10 bpm and it sounds way better also wouldn't SZA sound amazing singing this song??? the "that ultra kind of love" sounds exactly like something she'd do
Their setlist last night: Fall Out Boy Setlist at House of Blues, Chicago If they keep this for their upcoming tour I'd be happy. Going to the Cleveland show in about a month.
I mean, that's basically the same set as Wintour just with the new songs subbed in for Take Over, Disloyal Order, and Fourth of July. Not that Wintour was a bad set, I thought it was great, just seems like they'll have a new set for the proper tour.
Kinda seems weird they've cut Young Volcanoes even though it was one of their bigger radio hits and is the inspiration for their logo. Also miss Grand Theft Autumn. Tell me when they bring back "Tell That Mick" "Thriller" "Just One Yesterday" or "Where Did The Party Go"
Young Volcanoes wasn't a radio hit. And it looks like they subbed GTA for Chicago Is So Two Years Ago.
I remember hearing it all the time in 2013/2014, before I was even a fan Probably a regional difference
New song is the best of the three. It actually felt like a band, not a Stump solo project imo. Chicago being played makes me want to see them live again.
' 1. I'll jizz in my pants if they keep CISTYA for the whole tour. 2. Same. I really thought this would be the tour they'd drop it (and maybe they still will after the Chicago date) but yeah, I'm surprised. I'm seeing them in Boston for the first time since 2009. I'm imagining the fan base has changed quite a bit since then. Kind of picturing everyone walking out during Saturday at this point.
Can't imagine FOB not closing with Saturday. Even though the band believes in that song more than their fan base probably does by this point, it wouldn't feel right.
Hot take: I might actually really like Young and Menace. I can't believe it. Nothing on the previous two records ever grew on me; I either hated it first listen or loved it (only like 5-6 songs) right away. So that's a really cool sign. MANIA gonna be best neo-fob album, I bet.
Fall Out Boy scrapped almost all of original "Mania" sessions, says Pete Wentz So this pretty much confirms the updated MANIA album was written or at-least recorded entirely from scratch, and the singles are the only songs from the original version of album to make it to the final.
I liked that single he had. But I never truly listened, no. I'd probably prefer it to newer FOB though so maybe I will.
