As someone who thought SRAR was decent and hated AB/AP, except for the title track....this grew on me like crazy. This is way more interesting than what they've been doing. Who knows if the album will be good, but this is kicking ass right now.
neither was IOH really and cork tree even moved more toward a pop rock style moreso than pop-punk. its not like all four pre-hiatus albums sound the same, they're all quite different.
No idea what the hell I'm listening to at times during this song but it somehow grows on me with each listen. One thing I will say is FOB has never been afraid to change their sound and try something new and I have to commend them on that
Surprised all the pre-order options are already on sale, unless that's just a tactic to get me to buy it cause it might just work
Not entirely sure what I think of this song. Announcing/putting up pre-orders for an album that comes out September when it's only April is a bit dumb though. Hahaha
I am very surprised to say I enjoy this quite a bit. I really liked about half of SR&R, and didn't care for really anything on AB/AP other than the title track and Novocaine, so suffice to say FOB's direction since returning has been hit or miss... but this is a pleasant surprise. That said, if they're touring with The Chainsmokers, I think that's a real bad look.
Where is this touring with the Chainsmokers talk coming from? People thinking this sounds like the Chainsmokers? I don't recall seeing anything suggesting they were?
The Zane Lowe interview is funny, and explains the thought process behind the song a lot more than I was expecting. Good stuff.
Just have seen it skimming the three different threads about this, could've probably worded it better.
No worries! I had just seen it pop up in comments a few times and was thinking "Did I miss something?" haha
"Oops I did it again" takes me right out of the song. Maybe it won't for younger people who weren't alive/cognizant of Britney when she broke out, but I heard that song enough in 1999 for a lifetime.
Song and video are so fucking cool. Love what they're doing here, love how they're just throwing caution to the wind with each new release.
It started as a one off comment in the tour predictions thread. Someone said something about hoping they had better openers than before, and then I think someone said something like it would make more sense for them to tour with the Chainsmokers than the bands people were probably hoping for, and then apparently everyone really ran with that. So basically it was just a hypothetically situation that now people seem to think is happening.
Man oh man, I don't even know where to start... I can say with all honesty I was expecting this song to sound like something off of AB/AP and I don't know why because that has not even remotely been the status quo for this band. Every release sounds like a Fall Out Boy album/song, but has a fresh new sound and they did not even remotely disappoint. As much as it pains me to say this, I'm glad that the album is coming out in September. If this single is indicative as to how the rest of the album sounds, dark is the only word that comes to mind, then this will be a perfect album for cooler fall weather. I'm excited beyond belief for the new album and can't wait to listen to this on the way home with my daughter today. She has grown to love this band and I think I will get a pretty cool reaction from her. It's a creepy sounding song and I mean that in the best way possible. First Fall Out Boy song in a while that didn't have to grow on me. Hope we get a few more singles here and there before it comes out. Good job guys for keeping up the hard work and making music you want to make and making it completely unpredictable as to where your sound is going to go next.
I'm a few months into being 35, and I love the reference too. It does pull me out of the song a tiny bit and make me think of Britney, but I think that's the point.
