with this cold front that came in, now'S the perfect time to spin Folie à Deux. I always associate the two and they complement each other so well.
One of my favourites from them! Damn I've really not been a fan of this band with the reunion direction. Still enjoy Alone Together but that's it. Bring back the Folie à Deux direction I say!
For those interested, Andy will be the guest on the 100 Words or Less podcast. Episodes usually last a touch over an hour, so it should be interesting. I don't Ray will pry too much on new FOB stuff, but Andy tends to do his own thing so it will be a good opportunity to hear his thoughts.
Didn't even realize they were working on new material. Whatever it is, I sure hope it's nothing like AB/AP.
I didn't mean it to sound like there was new FOB. I just meant Ray doesn't usually ask the radio interview type of questions. It's usually a free flowing conversation. Given their backgrounds, there will probably be a good amount of hardcore talk.
I played I played SR&R and AB/AP today, really enjoy those records. Also learned to play "Young Volcanoes" on my ukulele, which is fun.
This week I've been on a Fall Out Boy discography kick and loving it. I think I've come around on SR&R and AB/AP as a whole but I'd be lying to myself if I didn't say I prefer their pre-hiatus music. Like I'm happy with what we've gotten afterwards but I don't think they can ever top FAD.
AB/AP is good for what it is, but anyone who says it's their best is either lying or has never listened to any other FOB record.. I don't mind the experimental side of it, but I wish they'd incorporate more rock again.
I don't think it's that experimental honestly, unless the experiment was to try and make a lesser version of SRAR.... I think they definitely succeeded in that
I think the experimental part of it is that they wanted to make abrasive pop music thats using hip hop sampling styles with rock music
The title track is the only thing that could remotely be called abrasive though. And hip hop samples? Definitely don't hear that.
Centuries does a top of the hat to Tom's Diner by Suzanne Vega Uma Thurman does the Munsters Fourth of July And title track Significant enough to be considered "experimental" (as much as arena pop music can be)
AB/AP had no lasting value whatsoever, but SRAR didn't have much either for that matter. Folie is pretty much their only music I care to listen to at this point
Handful of songs from each album and all of Folie for me. Edit: 3/4 of Infinity as well after consideration
Just realized Infinity is almost ten years old. Still have no idea how they didn't push the cheesy "I'm Like a Lawyer" hard on radio. Those harmonies towards the end of the song are so good.
Cheesy is 100% right for the "me and you" parts imo but that single came out in 07 right? And didn't Folie come out 08? Wouldn't make sense to push a single for an old album hard if a new one is coming down the pipe, that'd be my guess
