No shade but the post said 100% his parts and I’ve sat in the studio with the band. “100%” is wild. That’s the part I’ll dispute.
Pretty sure Butch Walker wrote that “Church” bass line. Also I think Patrick has played every single instrument at one time or another on a FOB album.
For me there was an air of apathy, especially when it came to those of us (young as we may have been,) that got started on this journey due to radio play. "I Don't Care" was fine, I still don't love "America's Suitehearts" and it all just seemed too big. The mall-punk scene caught up to FOB right around that time and the kids that felt as though "their" band had shanghai'd the mainstream radio between '04 and '08 started to overcorrect and shout "Nah, Fall Out Boy sold out." I explained this to a co-worker today in terms of Marvel Movies. It got so big that even the people that cared felt inclined to tear it down. Unrelated, but happy to be here joining the conversation on my first new laptop in almost 15 years and with a little more life and sobriety. Missed this site.
The 100 percent thing is wild, cause that’s just assuming FOB hired Pete Wentz to be a hearthrob when they were playing basements
If I said 100%, that was definitely an exaggeration. I’m just saying some songs might have been played by Patrick or other people like Butch since Pete has even proclaimed himself to be a root note bass player. Even if he is, his chops have considerably improved. I’m sure he had to, especially when they changed the setlist up night after night.
To be fair, it's not a full remix/rerecording, all of Neal's (and TLA's) mix work is intact. To my ears it sounds basically the same except the drums feel a little less squashed by the bus compressor. There might some subtle EQ shifts because it sounds a tiny bit more clear, but nothing super obvious.
I'm incredibly annoyed they called these alternative versions when the difference is so subtle. And then not even labeling the other songs as remastered on streaming? Fuck off
did the cameraman predict the future in that VMA video where it started off with a shot of ashlee simpson?
If anyone needed further confirmation that they don’t want to do anniversary/album tours, there it is.
