Yeah, between this and the mental health wobbles in 2023 he's not had the easiest go of it, I hope he can deal with this okay!
Shuffling through their discography this morning. Man, what a run from Take This To Your Grave to Folie à Deux. Not knocking the post-hiatus albums. Those 4 are just something special.
I don’t hate “Centuries” as much as I used to. It actually goes off well live. Will it be one of my go-to FOB songs? Fuck no, but I respect it more after watching this video especially.
TN:128 Fall Out Boy & Neal Avron Closest thing is this episode with Patrick and Neal Avron on 3 tracks from So Much. A really enjoyable and thorough listen.
Never thought I’d see Patrick officially address that demo verse. Shoutout to anybody who remembers this version from the AbsolutePunk days:
The pre-anticipation before FUCT and then the album coming out and being the literal best thing ever. That's something I don't think I'll ever experience again.
Somewhat related, there's a version of Sugar where Patrick sings "the friction in his jeans" like the liner notes. Always thought that was a mistake but between this video and the podcast episode, probably a deliberate lyric on Pete's part. Also, this whole video is awesome. Them in a small venue a couple months before FUCT drops.
The Stardust cycle has been paced so well. Been 2.5 years and they've been on the go fairly consistently and it still feeling fairly fresh.
Cover of The Muppets' It Feels Like Christmas out on October 15, today or tomorrow, depending on where you are. I've already heard it and Patrick does a great Kermit impression lmao
can someone who was in this fandom in 2008 describe what the vibe was like when folie came out? going through my annual obsessive FOB phase atm and it’s hard to envision this album being as maligned as the stories say
Interesting post and curious. Having rediscovered it a few years ago I think it is an absolute scene high and Patrick's performances are incredible (Donnie and Coffee as just 2 examples), and while a huge leap in songwriting it sounds like an organic development so I too can't understand that this would have received hate, retrospectively.
I barely remember but yeah the fanbase in general was cold toward it. It hit right around the time I was convalescing after surgery and this was one of the albums I wore out over that long and painful winter. Carried me through and I vibed with it so hard that I just didn't get why people were so down on it. Still hold up (Coffee's For Closers) as their best song
