All of the first four openers are brilliant. Thriller > Disloyal Order / Tell That Mick > Our Lawyer As for favourite FOB song: Grand Theft Autumn, XO, Bang The Doldrums are probably mine.
This is very unlike me, because the only reason I joined AP.net years ago was because of a new FOB song streaming. But part of me really doesn't want to listen to this new song yet.
Their comeback show in NYC in that tiny little club the day after My Song came out was probably the greatest show I've ever been to, and probably had the greatest setlist I've ever experienced. I never in a million years thought I'd get to hear my favorite song, Patron Saints, live. The difference between seeing them then, and then a year later during their 21P/Panic tour was night and day. I hope their next album has some more songs in their classic vein. SR&R and AB/AP are pretty good albums on their own, but haven't really held up over time for me. There's some songs that I love off those two, but the nature of the songs just kinda sucked the energy out of the flow of their set.
Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown is another one that just...Speaks to me personally. I can't explain it.
I think they really perfected what they could do as a rock band on Folie. I consider everything since then FOB 2.0 and try not to compare it much.
You just have to remember what it is. It's not a FOB song, it's an advertising jingle for the movie. It's not great by any means, but in that respect it works.
I first heard the reaction to their Ghostbusters song on a pop forum so I was hoping it was overblown cause those ppl are always all "blah blah is it 2007? Go away already blah blah" but then I read the reactions on chorus and it scared me more lol I usually don't hold soundtrack songs to high standards tho
I saw the trailer for Ghostbusters as previews before Finding Dory, and the song works for what it was created for: a backing trailer track.
I think for that and being played over the end credits of the movie, it's pretty much what you would want/expect.
Given how big this movie is expected to be, I highly doubt that they were given free reign to do whatever they wanted with the song. Unfortunately the movie studio, and likely the movie studio's marketing department, probably had a lot to say about what the song should and would sound like.
Maybe all they were told was 'remake it. Play it'. And they did. But when I saw their name on it, I thought... ok, maybe its ok to listen to. But even my daughters who like FOB... didnt like it. Shut if off right a tthe beginning.... that was that. :/
He also tweeted and snapped about "Bloom," which I assume is related to this. Interesting that they're doing a lot for just a few shows. In other news, FUTCT and IOH represses are coming up on Hot Topic's site in the next few weeks in different colors.
