This is giving me such nostalgia for the 2007-2008 era with IOH and FAD, this song sounds like a perfect mix of those albums and everything down to the music video really nails that feel too I'm so fucking stoked on these guys right now for the first time since SR&R
Yeah, it’s that chord that hits at like 1:41. I’m really bad with theory so I can’t name it, but it’s for sure something they were doing heavily on Folie specifically. It and the little riff leading up to it have that R&B-ish quality they were experimenting with around that time
the strings parts are so good Mania had some really good stuff but didn't do much for me as a whole. thought I was out but they pulled me back in, the bastards.
I should know what it is but I don't know. It's just a sick ass harmony that they voice lead into perfectly.
So weird to see them rocking the Nirvana lineup on Kimmel. They sound great regardless. Wishing Joe the best!
I'm going to be honest this feels like a reach. The guy in the replies saying he did a video and his concepts were used without consent/compensation, that I can get behind, but a band doesn't own the concept of a dog with an open mouth on the album cover. The fonts aren't even THAT similar.
If the album cover was a baby underwater or something then yeah sure, but yeah that tweet feels like a bit of a stretch
Yeah that makes sense. There’s always gonna be ideas that are similar especially in the day and age where it feels like so many things have been done before. Still love LJG but it probably more has to do with her not being a fan of the band and posting about that
That I don’t know. I know she had beef with Alkaline Trio, but that’s cuz her ex-wife created the Alk3 heart skull and while they were on tour with them in the 2000s, Laura said she just did not get along with Skiba. But maybe that beef was squashed. No idea at this point about beef with FOB lol
Yeah, that I knew about. I was just curious. The artwork seems like a little bit of a reach imo (she also uses the phrase "bites [Giant Dog's] aesthetic" which I feel is a bit different that stealing someone's idea outright), but the reply in the tweets about someone having their video concept stolen by their team is not good.
Exactly, if it comes to the aesthetic, definitely closer to Fiona (and 100 others too), nothing like that Giant Dog one! ;d I'd be more curious aboout the video ideas. Would need some closer info, was the pitch already themed - then some ideas could get pretty universal around a given theme anyways. Shitty if it would get more specific, but I'm sure they wouldn't lack the money to give to somebody if the idea is original.
I think SRAR is my favorite of theirs, followed by FAD? The SRAR follow up, American Whatever, was mostly a big ol’ miss for me, and then Mania bounced back pretty good… but I wasn’t gravitating toward that sound enough to spend much time with it. (Revisiting it right now, and it’s fun!) This new track rules. Takes me back to the way that SRAR rollout felt in the best way.
The Kids Aren’t Alright is the song off of AB/AP that I wish was a hit. That song is so fucking catchy and one of the tracks of the post-hiatus era I come back to most.
Been a while since I listened to the first one but I'll give it a go: Infinity on High From Under the Cork Tree Folie a Deux Take This To Your Grave Mania American Beauty/American Psycho Save Rock and Roll
Folie a Deux From Under the Cork Tree Take This to Your Grave Infinity on High Save Rock and Roll American Beauty / American Psycho Mania
I've been relistening to Cork Tree on, and my rankings right now are Infinity Save Rock Folie Mania Cork Tree ABAP I still have to relisten to ABAP cause I remember literally nothing about it.
