I love Joe and can’t wait to read his book. Glad he’s taking the time he needs to get healthy I hope he’s doing okay.
I can’t make the argument this doesn’t sound like MANIA since I haven’t heard it, but I don’t remember anything like this on AB/AP. Those prechoruses especially are so, so Folie
I really appreciate that the band didn't do a bunch of interviews and post about "going back" to their old sound, or how their new music feels like old albums... They just... Did it, and did it will
Still doesn’t seem like some retread or “old sound” to me at all. Hear all kinds of stuff from the last four albums in it.
i really like the track, and i'm no stranger to pete's lyrical style, but its really hard to take a song that mentions the word apocalypse seriously
I think it's really hard to use that word in lyrics without coming across, at least to me, as self serious and edgy. It reads like a teenager writing fanfic lol. I don't think it's a particular good lyric, however Pete has been exceptionally hit and miss for me his whole career, so it's probably just me being needlessly picky. He has written some of my favorite lyrics of all time, but I tend to dislike the ones like this that feel a little too direct, I think, for lack of a better word. I wish I could better explain. I do like the song a lot though!
Something about the chords and melody of the prechorus feels like something that hasn't been on their last 3 albums. Im not talking about "guitars" or "drums", it is purely a harmonic element. Their last 3 albums have been entertaining but they were much more adventurous harmonically on Infinity and Folie. That's the only way I can describe it right now.
I don’t really hear it that much, but I have enjoyed the IOH comparisons (positively given) since that album was so dumped on when it came out for not being FUcT2.
Third listen in and head over heels in love with this song. For something like this to be coming out in 2023, given the current state of music, is just... wow. This is really special.
