it occurred to me that literally seconds more research could have helped me answer this haha. thank you.

 

To me it was strange. The finalists were there but were kind of backing vocalists? Either let them have a couple words each or don't bring them up there at all. Every other performance the finalists had a chance to do a portion of the song

Agreed. It's supposed to be an American Idol performance. I wouldn't have even realized they were there had I not watched it.

The drums were especially sad...

 

This was legit the most boring performance I've ever seen.
