nevermind, the shipping was a different price for me on my laptop compared to my phone. I'm going through with the bath bomb.
I was totally gonna get the bath bomb but figured it'd be gone once and a snow globe would last me forever? And I always need to up my Xmas decorations game. But yeah no thanks with $12 shipping!!
that's why I was considering the keychain too. I think shipping for it was only like $5!! also if anyone wants my digital download code, you can have it.
I really love M A N I A. It feels like the natural progression from Folie a Deux. I've always had high hopes for FOB ever since I heard Folie, as it's a masterpiece and an album that was ahead of its time, and although I'm only few listens in, I really think M A N I A is great. I'm a fan of SRAR and I enjoy most of AB/AP, but M A N I A feels like the closest its ever been to rekindling that flame Folie left in me. It has that chaotic, experimental vibe to it that made me love the band. I really love it when FOB taps into their inner weirdness. Also, Young and Menace is such a powerful song in the context of the album ('s true order). I don't like it as a standalone but man, it's such a highlight for me when listening to the whole thing. It captures a lot of the album's lyricism so well, the whole album is just one big loop of songs obsessing over glory/love and then there's songs about feeling devalued and unwanted, and the whole idea of Y&M being a total breaking point is poetic and impactful.
not including the new record as it's not even been available a week yet but 1. Folie 2. Cork Tree 3. IOH 4. SRAR 5. AB/AP 6. TTTYG
Got my record today! This is definitely their best post hiatus album. Really hooked on it and coming around on the last few songs now
Champion isn’t so bad in context the more I listen to it—it’s a nice a shot in the arm after Church and Heaven’s Gate. Generic but it brings the energy back to an extent
After giving the album a few listens I think it’s ok. I think there are some pretty good songs on here (Real Ones, Church, Champion) but a lot of them just aren’t catching me the way their other post hiatus stuff has. I also can’t get into Heaven’s Gate despite tons of praise. I get annoyed by how he says “boost” haha Would probably put this towards the bottom of their albums. For context, I’ve loved their last two albums.
Heaven's Gate -> Champion flows so well. Champion feels like the rush of the highway after cruising the slow speed limits of the suburbs. Not to say Heaven's Gate is bad tho, I love it! I meant it more of a metaphor of tempo and drive!
After quite a few listens and deciding I love the album, I am finding that the only part I’m not really liking is the bridge of Heaven’s Gate. It just sounds kind of muted and messy. Anyone else have thoughts on it? It just sticks out to me as a weak point on an otherwise pretty flawless album. That song could have had an awesome bridge.
Great great album. I'm not sure yet if I like it more than SRAR. It's just slightly loses my interest with Church & Heaven's Gate. I don't think these are bad songs but kinda in the same vibe and I caught myself being a little bored with those two songs. Which is weird cause everybody seems to love those two. But the first four and last three are absolutely golden.
And if death is the last appointment then we're all just sitting in the waiting room (Mr. Stump) I just heard this for the first time today, it's such a cool detail.
The only thing I hate about this album, is that no matter how loud I turn it up, I can’t cover up just how bad my singing is. Patrick knocked it Out of the Park
one of those albums where I'm never, ever sure how many octaves I have to bring my singing down. My most natural singing voice is a Matt-from-the-National-esque baritone (as evinced by the fact I can nail most songs in their catalogue), so that makes singing along to more-or-less any post-hiatus FOB an Adventure.
I work midnights, and a morning counselor called off. I almost had to stay for another shift, but thankfully I am home in time for the pre-sale!!!!
