A good chunk of my fave fob songs would be post hiatus. The Phoenix, kids aren't all right, save rock n roll, young volcanoes, Wilson, etc etc. Probably more but I haven't listened to their catalog in a while
I did recently listen to Cork Tree for the first time in a while and I appreciated it more than I thought I would. It made me cringe a lil because I remember thinking lines like "you look so good in blue" were super clever and edgy and I still cringe at Pete's speaking parts, but for the most part I liked it more than I thought I would. I appreciated our lawyer made us change the name of this song so we couldn't get sued a lot more. I probably listened to the album a zillion times upon it's release and never noticed the line "Make them dance like we were shooting their feet" which I really enjoy like it's probably a top fob line for me rn.
Generally I think their albums are just consistent. Usually a few songs that I love, a lot that I like, and a couple I don't care for.
Yeah that's my favorite one too, probably the only one that I don't think has any duds. But I don't think w.a.m.s. or 27 are particularly great.
Probably a controversial ranking, but here's my take: Take This to Your Grave From Under the Cork Tree Infinity on High Save Rock and Roll Mania Folie a Deux American Beauty / American Psycho
I can appreciate TTTYG for what it is, but the biggest leap forward this band ever made was from that to Cork Tree.
My record was delivered today from Amazon. Started listening to it, and right as Wilson starts it begins skipping. Thought there was a hair on the record- nope. An inch-long scratch... just opened it! I’m pretty damn annoyed. Also, no digital download included, which is weird.
Stay Frosty is my favourite on here right now. I love the Eau de Résistance part. My other favourites would be Church, Last of the Real Ones and Heaven's Gates. But really the only one I'm not sold on yet is Sunshine Riptide.
cork to infinity seemed bigger at the time than it really was imo. lots of infinity songs aren't too far off from cork trees sound
