Largest complaint I hear across the board is the lack of depth or clunky-ness of the lyrics. I don't have an issue with them, but I can kinda see where people have the headset for it. Seems like this album is going to be more insular in terms of the type of music listener that enjoys this in the long run.
I was referring to the actual music, not the lyrics. In which case I believe Patrick started writing lyrics on his own during Folie. I know for a fact I Don't Care was him.
Only track at this point I'm not really sold on is Bishop's Knife Trick. I don't think it's bad it just doesn't do much for me. Their last two closers took a while to grow on me and now they're some of my favorites from those records, so I have no doubts it'll grow on me. Even Champion has moved up to certified jam for me.
Same here. Although I don't know if they can pull it off live yet. That Fallon performance was bad and when I saw them in November it was ok.
It would certainly be interesting live, never saw any performance of it I hope someday I can see these guys live. Or any band for that matter
Unpopular opinion, but after a few listens I just really don't understand Heaven's Gate. Super boring and by far the weakest track on the album for me. What about it is making it a stand out for those of you who are repping it?
Heavens Gate is a song i’ve wanted fob to write for like 12 years, they are always very high key even they do slower tracks so i appreciate they have a song with a much chiller vibe. It gives pat a lot more room to shine and show a new side to the band that we have never seen before.
"heaven's gate" is all about the bridge, and the chorus, oh and the verses too, and patrick singing "honey please please come through" in that infinitely ascending falsetto, and
Heaven's Gate is a great song, as they all are, but I'd say it's one of the weaker ones on the album for now at least
