What's so weird to me is guitars are extremely prominently featured on both After Laughter and Mania. I think people just think if a guitar doesn't have a traditional tone that it must be a synthesizer or something.
Also, can all of these publications please drop the fucking "emo" tag from discussion of Fall Out Boy. They've never been emo, and yes their music is emotional, but all fucking music is emotional.
I didn't even know that Stump had released a solo album. I should definitely check that out. Respectfully, please tell me how I am mishearing things? EDIT: I see that you are an audio engineer so I am genuinely asking with respect to your experience.
That's a perfect example of reading a review and thinking..."I don't believe this person actually sat down and listened to this full album".
I honest to god think Heaven's Gate might be my new favorite Fall Out Boy song of all time. Also, maybe it'll need to grow on me, but I didn't really care for Stay Frosty.
WHY PUT A NEW ADDRESS ON THE SAME OLD LONELINESS WHEN BREATHING JUST PASSES THE TIME Oh god I loved being so edgy during my junior year of high school
Music for sporting events. It's not a totally outlandish comparison at this point in their career, but I'd argue outside of "Champion" there's very little of that here compared to SRAR and AB/AP.
Just because the word was (mis)appropriated by mainstream press to describe those bands in that way (because emo was suddenly a buzzword that garnered those publications attention) doesn't mean it was ever accurate.
was playing this in the car on the way to work and "Last of the Real Ones" came on tried to sing the opening few lines hahahahhahahahah never again
