Looked through the lyric book pics online, looks like Neal Avron finally returns to an FOB record post-hiatus. Mixed a bunch of tracks. Butch Walker also had his hand in this again, of course. I love it like I love anything from fob, but that one drives me bananas more than any other one.
I guess it would've been pop back then but... By today's standards it's straight up rock. Like, pop is short for "popular" and to be fair pop punk isn't popular anymore. Sure, it incorporates elements of poppy production and melody into it, but it doesn't blend in that scene anymore. Like back in the mid-2000's Emo-scene music was the big trend in pop, and now dull moaning soundcloud rap is the big trend in pop. But as someone who grew up in the early 2010's, if I played "A Little Less Sixteen Candles..." to a group of friends nowadays, even ones that like modern FOB, they'd recognize it as some weird underground alt stuff. Hell, when a friend who "*likes* them heard me play Homesick At Space Camp, they were freaked the hell out.
lol i can't really speak to this for....reasons, but i will say that most of my fellow critics hate "young and menace" with way more intensity than any other fob song
Really? That was one of the handful of post hiatus songs I loved before all this Mania stuff, and not one I think would drive someone bananas like the really inyourface singles.
I don't listen to leaks but I've been going through the albums in order to get ready for the new one and holy shit I forgot how much I fucking love everything from FUTCT-FAD. It's been a while since I listened to anything from them but I just fell in love with those records all over again Doing SR&R tonight, which I've always liked, and hoping against hope that AB/AP will somehow grow on me tomorrow night. New one sounds really interesting/different judging from reactions so I'm excited
As that time in my life is put more in context, so is that record. I don't really like a lot of it, but I don't hate it like I did when it came out. Probably like a 5 or 6/10 from me with 3, almost 4 songs I adore. Still hate the cover though
