Speaking of leaks, I had a facebook memory from 2 days ago in 2015 talking about listening to the leak of AB/AP on a train to visit my girlfriend and her family in St Louis for the first time. I think that album was all I listened to on the train ride and that weekend.
On one hand I don't think this is true but I can't think of any examples to prove you wrong so I probably have an antiquated view of leaks
There’s exceptions obviously, but I think there’s just less means/incentive to leak albums early with streaming being so dominant now.
im almost certain if i made a dupe/parody account jason would ban it and then give me a stern talking to like a dad "ken youre better than this keep the shitposting on your main account"
"I wonder if your therapist knows everything about me ....?" Is the new "Does your husband know the way that the sunshine gleams from your wedding band?" in my head.
as arbitrary as it is, do FOB pass the 5 album test? id say yeah. FUTCT is a blast of nostalgia but i think its a genuinely good pop rock emo w/e album. Infinity, Folie, SRAR, and AB/AP are all varying degrees of brilliant. TTTYG is good its just difficult to listen to at time.
the only other ones i can think of are XO referencing Tell That Mick SRAR referencing Sugar and Chicago Is So Two Years Ago Novacaine references The Phoenix sort of Favorite Record kind of references Dead On Arrival
Novacaine IS the Phoenix as far as I'm concerned. But yeah, all good call backs. And I think the 4 album test is better than the 5 but if this album is as good as it's looking they'll pass the 5 easy money
TTYG is musically and arrangement wise the best pop punk album of its time. Too bad the lyrics are as bad as they are. Cork tree has amazing lyrics and so many amazing songs and the nostalgia makes it my favorite. Funny enough over time I think infinity has become their most underrated. Their "mainstream super star" record, you can tell Pete was really struggling to find his place in mainstream pop culture. Folie obv the best. SRAR was an incredible come back in which they kept up with the sound of modern pop and pop rock even after being on hiatus. AB/AP pushed that further with more experiments which paid off more than not.
