Again, very different. Agreed that this is giving Young Volcano vibes. Overall, seems like we’re in for a very varied album
I like it. I can't help but feel like they're really not trying to explore new lyrical ideas this one around though. Hopefully the rest of the album proves me wrong
I can't wait to hear the studio version of Wilson (Expensive Mistakes). Have had that one stuck in my head since I saw them last week.
I’m wondering if this album cycle will have anything approaching the massive chart hits that “My Songs...” and “Centuries” were. I would argue that they don’t really need another hit that ubiquitous this album cycle for it to be success, plus it’s still early in the album cycle in the grand scheme of it. Still interesting to think about though.
This is my least favorite of the four so far... Last of the Real Ones is great and really got my hopes up, but I hope it's not the best song on the album
This one had my most immediate positive reaction of the four. I don't hear the Young Volcanoes comparison though.
I love the "I need to come down" parts. The last couple of songs give me glimpses of their past material while still sounding fresh and new. I enjoy that they are having fun with this new album and I don't really have expectations for it. I've never disliked a FOB album (unless we're couting Pax AM Days :/) and this one is shaping up to be great in my opinion. *Now press repeat*
Ooooo I like it. Wow ok I'm very very glad they delayed the album because the two songs after that >>> the two songs before. Well actually that's not even true, it's really just Champions I don't like. I also don't feel the Young Volcanoes comparison other than the slightly tropic vibe. I think Young Volcanoes is overrated though so I'm not complaining. Man Last of the Real Ones just popped on after I finished this, and that song is just getting better and better for me. Color me stoked for this record. My fears have been squashed. I should've had more faith in them in the first place.
3/4 for me. Last of the Real Ones is up there with Alone Together in terms of post-reunion standouts. this one is just okay but i'm sure it'll sink it's claws in me after a few listens
That bridge is fantastic Patrick's vocal performance on this album seems like it's going to be fantastic the "down-oh-oh-ownnn" vocal run is fantastic second verse is fantastic The only thing that is a little meh to me is the chorus. could have been a little "punchier", and the repeated track title (which they do on Y&M and LOTRO) as the lyrics is wearing a little thin I'm not sure what kind of vibe they're going for on this album yet. SR&R was bringing rock-as-an-attitude to the pop landscape, AB/AP was bringing hip-hop sampling to arena rock...I'm thinking this is bringing more obtuse electronic influences to arena rock? not sure yet
I love this one! a strong latin vibe I was half expecting Patrick to bust out some spanish. Champion is still forgettable though
I really dig everything about the second verse.. Also, I️ don’t really say much about this subject on this site (I️ think oversensitivity can be problematic in these forums, especially when dealing on how to move forward/forgive and accepting a difference of opinions. Which personally, I think is a bigger problem that has to do with being constantly online and The negative effects it’s having on our brains, which is a whooole other issue) it seems as though some ppl/society have become obsessed with taking on the role of God and have become Judge,Jury, and Executioner of everybody else’s wrongdoings and sins. Which in some/if not most has really brought terrible accusations to light, especially with sexual predators. I’m not defending Pete’s accusations/actions. But as someone who has spent time in rehab and have seen first hand that people can completely change their lives and psyche around, I️ do believe that people can redeem themselves/can change. Now, the difference between ppl I️ personally knew or know, between someone like say, Jesse Lacey. They confronted the victims of their abuse and made amendments with them, or tried to the best of their ability. these personal journeys we call life, are all about forgiving and growing, and learning from our mistakes. I’m not saying don’t judge Pete, shit ppl can even boycott FOB, but it’s not gonna change what happened. It’s not gonna change the pain, growth and lessons learned between these individuals. and we’ll exhaust ourselves to insanity if we continue looking into every shady thing people have done in their past then judge them for it. Again, this is a very brief summary on my own thoughts and experiences, that I’m sure, though I hope not, will get ripped shreds by some without tying to see what I’m saying, but instead shouting at the top of your lungs what’s wrong with my opinion.
I saw somewhere that the girl Pete was dating was really 18/19 and somehow someone said she looked 15 and that stuck? still sort of a grimy age difference but it’s at the very least better than 15
