I don't like anything from post-hiatus more than pre-hiatus but Mania is the best of the new three imo
not mania-related, but Fourth of July has been stuck in my head lately despite not listening to it for a probably two months. Total wormhole in my brain, so good
Starting to think about my EOTY list, so revisiting stuff ... kinda going in order of when I heard stuff this year ... so this is getting a re-spin. This album kicks ass. Seriously.
I've been doing the same. Last of the Real Ones and Hold Me Tight have been stuck in my head all week. Bishops might be their best closer.
Wow I really thought this was released last year. 2018 has felt so long. Easy top 10 of the year. Probably even top 5
I never came around to Champion, Sunshine Riptide and Young and Menace, but the 7 other songs are the band's best in years.
Champion’s the only track I don’t love, everything else is fantastic. Between this and the Lake Effect Kid EP it’s been a good year for FOB
I like Champion. The last chorus when Patrick sings "if I could live through this" in a lower register is so good.
Really, if you cut Champion, Sunshine Riptide, and Y&M and replaced them with the Lake Effect Kid EP, there'd be a good argument to be made that this is the best FOB album. It's still second behind Folie as it is, though.
That's a no from me. Those 3 are awesome (know I'm in the minority on Young and Menace, but oh well) .
Young and Menace is the only song on this album that isn't absolutely fantastic, and that's okay because it's absolutely pretty good I did not like it at all when it first came out though, very glad I am in love with this record + have softened up on it a lot
I can't say I don't sing my heart out during the chorus of Sunshine, but I think the verses are too bad for me to enjoy the song. That "Sign says don't tap the glass, but I read it in reverse" part is laughable.
