the album still has the wrong sequencing on spotify (seems like something they can't fix, as someone correctly guessed here) but the band shared a playlist with the right order. i think it's pinned to their profile page. it's absolutely mandatory that you listen to that playlist instead of the album proper, it's all messed up and really takes away from the experience
Stay Frost into Last of the Real Ones is such an amazing album opener, it kills me that people are listening to this thinking Y&M and Champion are the first two songs.
Thought the album's decent. Only a few singles stuck with me from AB/AP (Uma Thermon, The Kids Aren't Alright), and honestly anticipating a similair scenario here with Wilson and Church. Those songs are pretty wild.
I think it's always interesting to listen and notice progression; lyrically and musically. I like contextual criticism as a rule and it's informing to me when I consider Pete's mindset through these periods. And I love to watch how the sound and engineering matured. So for that reason, I'd recommend it if you have the time!
These lyrics are why I REALLLLY need someone to do an Eagles Hype Video with this as a backdrop. Very Philly.
Relistening to ABAP and I like the front half a lot more now, but Novocaine doesn't hold up for me anymore. Doesn't help that I just listened to SRAR so The Phoenix is still fresh in my head. I love a lot of the one liners tho. This album is a lot better than I remember it was lyrically. EDIT: Novocaine used to be my favorite track of the album when it came out, for reference on my POV.
You've all made up your minds on believing something that isn't true so I won't bother trying to change them. Not gonna get worked up on defending some one I don't know not all I'll say is do your own research or maybe you know...watch his videos so you won't be saying blatantly false things.
Yeah, he was so innocent that he deleted the entire channel in question. Can't watch those videos, now can we? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Let's just not engage in this convo anymore so it can die and we can continue talking about the 2019 Grammy Awards Rock Album of the Year M A N I A
They're re uploaded on YouTube. They should be easy to find if you want to see the contents of them. He also has a video responding to all of the (laughable) allegations. Look if he really was alt right I wouldn't even want to think about him let alone defend him at all. There's plenty of people who have been outed that deserve all the crap that melon is getting.[/QUOTE]
There's a wide difference between "being alt-right" and being someone that lends their voice to alt-right corners of the web, plays within them, courts them, goes on shows with them and sits by while they say shitty stuff, posts a bunch of shitty stuff in your videos, and says a bunch of really shitty stuff on twitter. Being adjacent and flirting with that shit doesn't need to mean "literally walks around in a nazi hat." And all that stuff ... he did! So fuck him.
Man, I don't get this band anymore. Can someone help me understand why people like this? I genuinely don't get it. I'd die for another Folie à Deux.
Wilson is very Folie-like. I'd give that one another shot. Stay Frosty has the aggression of West Coast Smoker too. Also, if I recall correctly, both/either Young Volcanoes and Novocaine were originally Folie songs. I remember hearing about it, but quick research leads me to no answers.
@Jason Tate do you have any examples of songs that were written for earlier albums? That stuff fascinates me
post hiatus fall out boy is all about making big, explosive, sturdy pop music. like pop in all caps. POP music. It's supposed to be larger than life, which at times means stripping back to bare bones elements of song writing. Sometimes it's using maximalism and filling songs with as many different sounds as possible. No matter what they do the aim is to make things that sound big. They've succeeded on every post hiatus album in one way or another. Don't go in expecting pop rock or pop punk or whatever you want from fall out boy. Go in looking for reliable pop music.
