Novocaine is The Phoenix, not Death Valley haha Same key and everything, sing The Phoenix chorus over Novocaine chorus
Gave the album a shot yesterday and spun it twice since. I'm pretty sure this is my favorite of their last 4 records. I really like this one. Stay Frosty Royal Milk Teeth gets me goiiiiing.
Is it just me or is Champion not meant to be a triumphant song? Its video aside, I still always thought it was a somber song; its use with sports programs bewilders me.
I don't know why, but the lyric "And I'm back with a madness/ I'm a champion of the people who don't believe in champions" gets me pumped every single time. That and the "I'm just young enough to still believe, still believe/ But young enough not to know what to believe in" are two of my favourites on the record.
Along with the whole of the rest of the record haha! That second one though, I don't know. It's the kind of lyric you'd find on all the generic pop-punk records released every single year, trying hard to be edgy and relatable, but it just stuck with me for some reason.
I love Novocaine and am meh on Death Valley haha Centuries is the only “sports anthem” song I don’t like, Champion is fine and I’ve always been a huge fan of My Songs
Centuries is another one of those songs that I didn't care too much for until I saw them perform it live. 10x better.
saw that Cork Tree is 13 years old this year. so i have been listening to Fall Out Boy for literally half of my life.
The only songs on AB/AP I'd put above like a 5/10 are The Kids Aren't Alright, Uma Thurman, Jet Pack Blues and Novocaine
recent soul punk talk got me to revisit the secret first patrick solo record, viva la cobra. i always forget how much i love this album
“secret first patrick solo record” is maybe overstating/projecting a little but he’s all over that thing
I mean, he produced it and is on almost every song somewhere, maybe it's better to say he joined Cobra for the recording process.
