AB/AP has some of the best FOB songs in Fourth of July, The Kids Aren't Alright, Jetpack Blues, Favorite Record, and Twin Skeletons. I also don't love the title track, but the album is just fun to listen to. Plus I am biased because my first and only FOB show was during the AB/AP album cycle. On a related note: listened to IOH during my morning commute this morning after having not listened to it for several months. Man, that album is a killer.
AB/AP title track is one of the highlights of that album. It’s a stupid fun, good time. Also, i wasnt expecting that kind of song when it was released and it really felt to me like FOB was happier than us to be able continuing what they do. It still gets me pumped
The only thing I don't like about the title track is that there is so much bass that it makes my car speakers sound weird so I have to lower the bass setting.
the kids aren't alright twin skeletons ab/ap uma thurman irresistible jet pack blues favorite record immortals fourth of july novocaine centuries
damn well if I have to... kids aren't alright favorite record twin skeletons/abap irresistible the rest is a jumble of songs I hate with some small parts I enjoy scattered in between but not nearly enough to save any of the songs.
ab/ap for me is all about 1. kids aren't alright 2. fourth of july 3. jet pack blues 4. twin skeletons
Two things: 1) I didn't realise AB/AP was so hated round these parts. It didn't sit with me as well as SRAR, but i just assumed that was me. The singles off it are all great for me (Uma Thurman is a fucking tune) and the rest of the songs range from ok to good. 2) the Folie love really perplexes me. It has some great songs on, but man the majority, not for me. Went to relisten the other day cause I got the urge to listen to I Don't Care, and couldn't make it all the way through. I am really off base with the rest of you on that. I don't remember hating it when it came out mind, so must be a recent thing. IOH still holds up for me, the sound of which culminates in Folie, so maybe it's just me.
Honestly after digesting MANIA, I think all three post-hiatus records are very close in quality, they're all in the 'very good' category for me.
Idk I tried listening to ABAP again the other day to see if my feelings had changed and, for the most part, nope. That album just doesn’t click for me at all. A lot of it is down to things I can’t seem to properly articulate but idk it’s just like a perfect storm of things I really don’t like about post-hiatus FOB all smashed together. All I know is that I’m super glad that I like MANIA as much as I do.
i really dont get the extreme disdain for ab/ap title track. not liking it is one thing. their worst song ever? really? that's hyperbole.
I think it's easily the worst on the album and definitely one of their worst songs. I think they have worse though.
Didn’t dislike the title track as much as I used to when I re-listened, actually, still wouldn’t necessarily say I’m fond of it though. I honestly loathe Uma Thurman, could be my personal least favorite FOB song. Definitely an unpopular take around here haha.
