I don't know if I could ever rank them, but I will say this: I feel like the progression from SRAR to Mania mirrors that of FUCT to Folie where the first of the three kind of sets the tone for what follows, the middle is an at-times awkward in-between sound, and the third reaches a logical conclusion. Or maybe the next album proves me wrong and post-hiatus--so far--mirrors TTTYG-IoH.

I can’t shake my soft spot for SRAR. That album means lot to me.

It was such a huge event and big come back but feel like MANIA is the album they've been building toward since coming back

 

these rankings are all over the place and none of them are bad

 

I probably like SRAR more actually but think Mania is a more accomplished and impressive album

 

Plus the songs are good!

 

I do like SRAR but it has its weak spots for me, I did love it when it came out but when I listened recently I wasn’t really into it

Still absolutely love the title track though

 

Hard for me to get behind a definitive ranking but I know Folie is the best both because their songwriting had developed to its peak and all of the circumstances surrounding the band made that the most interesting record.

 

Sunshine Riptide is really putting up a fight against Church for my favorite post-hiatus FOB song

 

I've had IF YOU WERE CHUUUUUUUURCH in my head for days and now it's GIVE ME A BOOOoooOooST

 

I was never into Folie when it came out, but damn nowadays it's the only pre-hiatus record I go back to.

 

The Folie-era b-sides/bonus tracks are super good too. From Now On We Are Enemies, especially.

 

Sunshine is going to be a smash this summer mark my words

The same for me, I think it's my favorite Fall Out Boy album. Mania is great but every time I put SRAR on after a while, I'm shocked how good it is. This is what great pop music is to my ears.

 

Everyone shitting on TTTYG. It's by far and away my favorite. I'm sure it's nostalgia but I don't care, I can run that album front to back. I remember hearing them on some site forever ago around when it came out and just being completely blown away.

TTYG > FUCT > IOH > FAD > SRAR > MANIA > ABAP

I enjoy every album. The first 4 I enjoy every single song. I still don't know where Mania will end up for me after some time.

 

So you (other than Mania) think every album is worse than the last?

 

Didn't even notice that. Music is a beautiful thing in that we rank our choices by what we enjoy the most and it takes on different meanings for everyone. Worse? I guess for me yea. More my style is more accurate though. I like the energy/speed/sound in the earlier albums more.

Saying that, I absolutely love TTYG/FUCT/IOH/FAD, every single song. IOH and FUCT are like a tie for me. There are songs I skip on SRAR. ABAP just didn't do it for me. I enjoy Mania but I'm still exploring it.
