Early thoughts: •College football is gonna eat this up the same way they did Centuries. Get ready. •I better not hear anyone complaining about how bored Andy must be on this song. He's killing it, for real. #ThisIsJam •The vibe of the intro melody/verse is very Y&M. Interesting that it's track 1 and 2 on the album. Wonder if that's intentional the same way What A Catch calls back previous songs, or Save Rock and Roll does too. •The outro melody Patrick is singing is very Alessia Cara. •Kept waiting for the last note of the lead guitar riff to finish the melody of "It's Gonna Be Me". (Dah nuh na na na nuh). •Rapping Patrick is awesome. •Fall Out Bridges are some of my favorite parts of their songs. Kind of bummed that the bridge was just vamping of the chorus. Expected it to get huge(r), but I guess with a chorus like that, and the keychange on the last go-round, you can't really get much bigger because you're already at the ceiling. •Catchy like crazy, in an "it's gonna get annoying how much radio plays this" kind of way.
Like this more than the last song, but overall not really into the sound they're going for with these.
I like this better than Y&M. This song is going to be played a TON during upcoming football season, E60 and Sportscenter montages.
Cash Them Checks Boy. And I mean that in the best possible way. I can't imagine how much money they make off of arenas, video games and sports outlets using their songs.
First thing I thought was how this is going to be played all over sports arenas and commercials. Guess I'm not alone. Not crazy about the song.
Mannn, that chorus was pretty boring to me. Just very, very repetitive, and not even a very cool phrase to repeat. Patrick sounded great at the end jumping up to those high notes though.
Best ESPN song they've released in the post-hiatus era. And I mean that as a compliment. Y&M wasn't my thing. I can get into this though.
I'm really enjoying both tracks (although Y&M is so wild and crazy it wins out for me) but mostly I'm glad that they don't sound like they were mixed and compressed by a tin can anymore (god do I hate how SRAR and ABAP sound).
