First impression is this is good but does not give me the “holy shit they’re cooking” sensation I got from Wild Type Droid and the various phases of In The Future. Still, they notoriously write growers and showers so I’m more than happy to give this record the time of day
Also my initial reaction is it’s not as good as WTD, but solid for sure. Still love the first two singles and the Hayley song is ok.
The Hayley song is my fav at this point tbh. Love the long ponderous intro and when they finally hit you w the heavy riff with that fucked up kinda off note in it, that’s just classic Failure shit
Just gave this a listen and I definitely enjoyed it. Solid State was my favorite. That chorus really hit me emotionally
Also, not sure if anyone’s read this, but Ken did an interview with Revolver and I thought it was pretty interesting. I’m glad I read it before I heard the album because it gave some good insight https://www.revolvermag.com/feature...-death-experiences-paramore-collabs-and-more/
Yeah played this in the car again yesterday and Solid State and the title track are the standouts for me.
Not this record but on a Failure kick since this has been out and a song I realized I’ve been sleeping on for the past 7+ years: Another Post Human Dream
That ending run on In the Future could be their best work. Apocalypse Blooms and Force Fed Rainbow are elite too. I'll never stop being amazed by how original and unique their sound was on that LP, almost like a bleak Dark Mirror esque cousin to Fantastic Planet.
I'm still of the opinion that The Heart is a Monster is their best album. One of the most stellar comeback albums ever.
I’ve decided this record rocks and I simply love this band too much to be disappointed by them. hope they don’t call it a day after this touring cycle and instead continue to make one of these every 3-4 years for the rest of my life (or theirs)
