"Paralytic Flow" sounds like Sparta (which is a good thing).

Paralytic Flow has been playing in my head nonstop for days. They've def still got it. Hope it's only a couple months til the next EP.

I get slight Mew vibes on What Makes It Easy. Solid EP overall.

This is fucking great - even better than the first EP.

Of all the 90s comebacks in recent years, their stuff is in the top tier... so far everything has been genuinely worthy of their legacy and has no hint of complacency or milking nostalgia.

Failure has mastered their sound while continually evolving it.

i didn't listen to the first one and haven't listened to this one either because I want to hear the album in full when it's complete

    but it's sooooo tempting

Either way, you've got an album of the year contender coming your way.

I love how bass-driven Failure 2.0 is (as opposed to the wall of distortion that Failure 1.0 had). It gives Greg the room to do some really cool space guitar work in/around the bass parts. A trio can sound as big as necessary and FAILURE proves it. I once feared that Troy's absence from Failure 2.0 would cost them their signature live sound. However, I've seen several shows with and without Troy since the reunion, and while he was able to add a few parts to old songs that I missed during shows where he couldn't participate, I was surprised to learn that they really didn't need him all that much. Furthermore, the new songs are written with the trio in mind so he just made them sound fuller. Plus, Ken and Greg use technology in such smart ways that they can dial in whatever sound they need to maintain the essence of an older track – with or without Troy's 2nd guitar.

After quite a few listens, "Solar Eyes" is probably a top 10 Failure track, and I think this LP has a good chance to be even better than THIAM. All three of these non-segues are killer.

I think I like the production on FP and the new stuff about equally well. The bass is def tighter and more prominent in the songwriting now which is awesome, but I also don't think FP would've been quite the same without the wall of sound.

For the time, it was/is perfect.
