After not hearing anything after the tour announcement, I was worried it was truly the end. I don't normally hold out on listening to singles but gonna wait for the complete release.
Goosebumps a minute and a half in. Love that switch up so much. This album is going to be worth the wait. edit: wow yeah this song is top tier EitS
I love it when bands release singles in the order in which they appear on the album. It makes the first listen flow so nicely.
Album is very good, but I can’t say I was blown away or anything. If anything, it feels like a bit of a step back from the previous one. Still, lovely moments throughout. Loved Peace or Quiet.
curious to why you feel that way? Reading this before listening I was expecting a weird sounds/experimental track and it feels fairly straightforward for them
That song reminded me of their early stuff. Maybe one of my favorites of the album actually haha. The whole thing was good if a little predictable. The first few songs are great, but I was losing interest a bit near the end. Not their worst album, not their best either.
I thought Wilderness was a step in a very interesting direction for them. This retains little of the electronic elements in favor of a somewhat by the numbers Explosions in the Sky album. I really do like it and I’m so happy they still make music, and I’m listening right now while the sky grows dreary and it’s doing exactly what I want, but I’m just the slightest bit disappointed in the apparent redirection. In any case, it feels special to have another record from them. All Mountains is fine. It just doesn’t do much for me until a few minutes in. I like it more than I did last night, haha. I love the singles, and Peace and Quiet is probably my favorite although The Fight is really good too. The cover is by far the worst thing about the album.
I like this band the most when they get cinematic. So on the first few listen this album is very good to me.
