I’ll revisit the franchise soon. I haven’t seen the OG Evil Dead since high school, but I’ve seen Evil Dead 2 a couple of times and definitely enjoyed it but there’s something about Raimi’s stuff that I find a bit exhausting. I haven’t seen all of Army of Darkness but the skeletons blew my mind when I was young and happened to catch it on TV.
Fwiw, I prefer Evil Dead to Evil Dead 2. A little less goofy and a little more endearing to me. Army of Darkness is very fun, but very slapstick, so I guess it just depends on what kind of horror you like. If you love the trailer for this, I can't imagine you wouldn't like Evil Dead 2013. Tonally, it looks like a direct continuation, and it's easily a top three horror remake for me
Yeah, this trailer does have me excited to revisit the 2013 Evil Dead. I saw that one in the theater with a friend and neither of us enjoyed it but there have been countless instances of me liking something in the theater WAY less than when I watch it again on my own.
Bruce Campbell says he will star in another 'Evil Dead' movie if Sam Raimi directs looks like the proposed Ash/Mia movie is still on the cards if they can convince Raimi to direct it lol
Would be very sick but I'm also not heartbroken if it doesn't happen at this point, just happy to be getting a new Evil Dead movie. Thinking about an Ash vs. Evil Dead rewatch
Really hope that this slams hard and is on the same level as 2013. Would love to see a new ED film in the same vein come out every few years but in a different setting telling a new story that somehow ties back to the originals
Review count is starting to tick up and it's holding steady in the mid-90's on RT. Doesn't matter all that much to me, but I can't help but let it add more anticipation. Probably more excited about seeing this in a packed theater than anything else in recent memory. I saw Evil Dead 2013 by myself in a pretty full theater and it was so much fun
watched this last night. thought it was mostly it's own beast. it's the exact gorefest people are/were waiting for i guess. i liked it but i don't know much more or less i'd enjoy if i wasn't taken out of the film by someone in the audience who basically lashed out at me because i asked her multiple times to both put her phone away and stop talking to her friend. feel like i should see it again at some point for better judgment of the film
Read your review and felt for you, absolutely the worst experience and thing to happen at a theater. People blow and sorry it hindered your enjoyment. Had a similar thing happen opening night of Midsommar and totally ruined my initial viewing of the film and, unfortunately, will always slightly taint it — even though I view it as a masterpiece now.
rewatched 2013 tonight for the first time since... 2013. man when that movie gets going it fucking GOES but up until the first death it's kind of a slog. some bad bad dialogue and acting from everyone except Levy in that thing (to be fair that's kind of an Evil Dead tradition) still fun but I'm ready for this movie to top it, bring it the fuck on
Yeah just rewatched 2013 and it definitely has flaws but man it still rips. the ending that is not really the ending after the burial really landed for someone i just watched it with
