Rise has only gotten better for me with time, but the 2013 film was a knockout from my theater experience till today. Obviously follows the original formula, but some unexpected humor for how grisly it is, and == I've said it before -- probably the bloodiest movie I think I've ever seen, at least in terms of "mainstream" horror. The third act of that one is just unreal. Even typing about it makes me want to rewatch lol
Also I feel like I should probably clarify - regarding my ranking from earlier, I'm pretty sure it's like The Evil Dead is one tier, 2013 is another, and Evil Dead II/Army of Darkness/Evil Dead Rise are all kind of a third tier that is interchangeable depending on what I'm in the mood for.
The title card and opening to Rise was good, I just didn’t think the setting was a good choice. Keep the evil dead in the woods.
