i'm sorry, but you can mark me down with those that didn't like this at all. after the fishing scene, it was a painful slog for the duration of it. and this might be a weird reading, but it almost felt like it was blaming will's abuse on a doting upbringing or something to that effect. all it seemed to have is that, like with the others, it comes through with the brutality and the red stuff, but even that can't be enjoyed when the film is fucking oppressive, visually. it's cool that others dug it, but all i can do is hope wrath is way better
I wanted to like this more. The toxic family needed more humor to it. Otherwise, it was just cringy since they were so awful. The tone was just off. Some cool sequences though with fun camera tricks.
Man, after these reactions and kind of wanting to save my money/energy for seeing The Odyssey I might just end up waiting for this to hit VOD
Also plenty of folks (like myself) who enjoyed it and would recommend seeing it in theaters if you're a fan of the franchise!
I have almost no kneejerk reaction to this apart from "holy fucking shit" and "ew". gonna need to sit with it a bit but I can absolutely understand anyone having this at the bottom or top of their ED rankings I love some nasty shit but the dog scene was just a bummer lol
That one single take somewhere in the middle of the movie was completely unexpected and cool as hell. Also the shot of her running away at the end with the red atmospheric background was pretty incredible.
Camerawork in this was nuts in general. Also loved that they went for the deadite dog but do wish they had done something more/really campy with it to make that initial scene worthwhile. Feels a bit like a missed opportunity
the deadite dog in the window and the family dinner scene had me wondering if this was a sneak Resident Evil adaptation lol
