I'm not sure how I feel about this show yet. It's solid, but isn't exactly a "can't miss" type series that I typically make time for to binge. But holy shit is the soundtrack incredible. Really brings back some memories hearing all these songs. Within the first 5 episodes I've heard Oasis, Blues Traveler, Gin Blossoms, Rancid, Weezer, Nada Surf, and all these jams I grew up with.
agreed, but with such short episodes it really helps the flow. you could watch the entire series in 4 hours. and yes soundtrack is great.
Oh yeah. I do love a show in that 23 minute range. I find these much easier to watch if I'm up at night and have to work the next morning.
Three episodes in and enjoying it. I’m big on nostalgia porn, I was in 7th grade during this time period. Music choices has been killing it.
Ending of this season was fantastic. Really did a good job at fleshing out the majority of the characters. Not the best teen show that I've ever seen, but a solid way to spend some free time. I hope it gets renewed. Luke is going to be a star, kid was magnetic.
Six episodes and I’m still loving the song choices. Episode 4 opens with a song from The Offspring’s ‘Ignition’
Finished this last night. It's a bit cheesy at times, but the main arcs are great and the show is so sincere. Actors who played Luke and Kate are great. Would def watch a S2.
Trailer looked meh but I definitely am a sucker for movies/tv series in this setting and reliving 90's nostalgia sounds fun to me. Not gonna lie the first thought I had watching the trailer was it was ripping off the 3 younger guys from Freaks and Geeks, haha.
Enjoyed this season. Thought it started off pretty weak, and is visually pretty bland, but gets good towards the end. Definitely a show I think that would benefit from a second season so more of the creators personal flair can come out
It got overly cheesy at some points where it actually made me uncomfortable. In particular, the Luke's mom and principal relationship. Some of those scenes were just soooo far fetched and just incredibly lame moments with terrible dialogue.
Yeah I'm having trouble getting past all the references. They feel so forced. Glad to hear it gets better though
i have some friends that couldnt get past the first few episodes...i told them it gets better and you have to be patient for the show to find its footing. The show didn't really do a good job of explaining WHY this had to be in the 90s. The story we see could be from almost any era (outside the 90s references)
There isn't much discussion about Luke's father and I'm not entirely sure why. I found myself confused to why his father appeared 100% white and Luke showed no physical traits of being biracial. Am I supposed to think this guy is his biological father or no?
Finished the season this morning. Man this show was great. Finale hit me right in the feels. Great cliffhanger for season 2 also.
