I still need to see this, but I am not sure when I can get to the theater so I might try and find a streaming link today.

There’s not much else coming out in the next few weeks that I’m all that interested in, so I might just see this a third time.

Based on how the campaign has been going so far, feels like EEAAO is going to make waves during Oscar season

The whole industry is talking about it and completely stunned by how well its doing in theaters. I think it's going to get some noms - Possibly nominated for Best Picture, Michelle Yeoh for Best Actress, Ke Huy Quan for Best Supporting Actor, and maybe even a best original screenplay win.

But really it depends how the rest of the year plays out, but this does feel like it something a good chunk of academy members will remember next year

I wouldn't predict anything for awards season yet, considering there's probably a ton of contenders we haven't even heard about that will release in the span of a month in December. But it would be awesome if it could keep up this momentum.

Yeah beyond being a shoo-in for a best screenplay nom (and maybe the win) I don't expect much from the awards push, BUT A24 doesn't really have many blatant contenders sticking out that could take up their awards push budget (Aronofsky, JLaw)

I'm already here lol. It's tonight. I was hoping they'd put some showings up for when it's actually released on Friday but nope. Looks like I'm gonna have to travel at some point, it's just gonna take even longer for me to see it.

So I think the trailer for this movie was better than the actual movie itself and it definitely out stayed it's welcome. I think the overall message was pretty ham fisted and communicated multiple times throughout the course of the move that it felt repetitive by the end. While I enjoyed several moments of the whacky humor, not all of it landed for me. Going to give it a 7-7.5 / 10 and say that ultimately I was disappointed by it.

7-7.5/10 is still...really good! It's weird to see people rate any movie 20-25% above "average" or "middle of the road" and use language like repetitive, ham-fisted and disappointing.

Are we just spoiled by our own ideas of high quality movies? Are we unable to establish a clear line between "good" and "great"? I don't know, sometimes I feel that way myself.

I don't know what I'm trying to say really and i don't mean this as an attack on your opinion specifically @Helloelloallo
