i feel like he’s been the main cast member highlighted in the promo haha - he was on kimmel and a few of the late night circuit shows

 

Seeing this tomorrow

 

Its really great a second time too

 

All of that failed to reach me, so I’d say it was a complete failure of a marketing campaign

 

Not sure a I’ve been in a packed theater that was as collectively in a movie’s bag than mine was tonight with this. Unreal good.

 

the theater i was in really vibed with everything except the story of a girl callback which seemingly only me and my wife laughed at

 

Yeah in a packed theater my girlfriend and I were the only ones that laughed at that, feeling validated by chorus.fm

 

that came off like such a Matrix reference that it didn't even dawn on me until I saw the other posts in here about it. Though I did catch the moment where it was playing in the background and thought it was weird that that of all songs was playing lol

 

I can’t explain why but I absolutely got the vibe Evelyn and Joy had mostly fallen apart from each other, that scene they kept showing in the car being their big falling out. It felt like she was even only coming around in the movie because grandpa was coming to town

 

I guess I had interpreted that moment as just being one from a different multiverse (it may have been in the initial montage where Evelyn relives her entire past and I just missed it idk), but that makes sense

 

Had a couple people walk out during my showing. Their loss!

 

A couple people beelined for the exit when the fake credits rolled and then sheepishly made their way back to their seats

 

The fake credits made me laugh. Wondered in the moment how committed to that bit they were gonna be.

 

To me, the funniest thing about the Raccoonie bit was the fact that they came up with a full on alternate universe version of Ratatouille’s big plot beats - even with an alternate universe climatic set piece. It’s believable enough that if you haven’t seen Ratatouille you might think that’s basically what happens in that movie



The movie that would be able to knock this out of my number 1 spot for this year would need to be life changing

 

True, also funny that Evelyn is just a side character in the Racacoonie universe rather than the Alfredo stand-in lol

 

Just not shutting up about this movie at all today to anyone who makes the mistake of texting me or walking into my edit bay to talk to me

 

And speaking of editing, I have a pretty cushy job editing film and TV and documentaries and marketing content etc etc. But seeing a movie come together like this—nailing every beat, whether emotional or absurd, with absolute precision and getting every reaction it wants out of the people watching—makes me want to find another line of work entirely. Doesn’t make sense! Doesn’t seem fair to have the same job title as the people capable of pulling off something like this.

 

This was phenomenal and I basically sobbed through the last half hour

There was a couple in my theater and it was very apparent the guy was into it and the woman was not.

 

My girlfriend gave it a 5/5 I gave it a 4.5!
