I saw it for a second time last night. Part of me thought the high of seeing it in early in the biggest IMAX I could find with a game crowd would cloud my judgement, but no, the second watch in a more normal screening confirmed this is the real deal. Thematically it clicked even more for me and I may have cried a little this time

I saw this last night, such a fun and creatively inventive movie. So many hilarious and touching parts. It has its flaws, but I can’t imagine seeing this and not having a great time.

First let me say, this isn't me telling you that you're wrong or saying this was a perfect movie...

I'm just interested in what you considered flaws. Can you share?

Sometimes it can be a little much lol, that’s definitely part of the appeal but I can get how it can go a little too far for a bit. I loved the raccoon jokes but it felt like they went back to it a time or two too many. And the end resolution seems a little rushed, there’s a thread throughout about choosing between her daughter and bad life and her father and her potential that they kind of rush through at the end.

I still loved it and I cried, but I don’t think any film is perfect really. This is probably my second favorite from this year behind Turning Red.

i think it's incredible but i'd say one flaw is

It feels like in the middle the plot slows down for the purpose of showing multiverses, which feels like it could have been done a little more elegantly. Like, it kinda works, but at the same time they're in the IRS building for like, 1.5 hours of the movie.

I don't think I have the words to describe how great this movie is. The Daniels knocked it out of the park again, this whole cast was insanely good and I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time whenever I didn't have tears in my eyes.

Also the homage to Wong Kar Wai was pretty fucking incredible.

When he first said the line I looked at my girlfriend and busted out laughing. Every time after that I just hoped for the whole song. I need those recordings lol.

How a one-hit wonder became absolutely crucial to 'Everything Everywhere All At Once'

I actually love this gag so much. At first I kinda wanted more expansion on it, but then I just shrugged and figured it makes sense. It's awesome to know how to came together/that it was always in the script and almost not even in it.

I never thought a scene with just two rocks on a cliff could be so profound.

the more great things I hear about this the sadder I get that I have no way to see it or any idea when I might be able to.

This threaded the needle of absurdity and sincerity that, when done right, is one thousand percent my shit. Lots of laughing and tearing up with this film.

Stephanie Hsu’s Joy/Jobu was the highlight of the film for me. So much heart as Joy, and so much fabulous villainy with delightful outfits. This would’ve been fun regardless, but that character as the core of the story elevated it to truly great, imo. Dug her bit about “can’t” vs not supposed to, in context of her overall arc. And, the disappointment in the rock scene.

    hahahaha
    hahahaha

    fuck

Oh, and a couple of the funniest moments: the way Jenny Slate’s dog went flying when the leash was cut, & the pantless man diving towards the butt plug.

Had no idea that two of my favorite artists (Mitski & David Byrne) had a song together so the credits were a nice surprise
