    Perhaps vague spoilers to follow...

I get what you're saying and yes, to clarify, I thought it was a good movie hence the score, but I also thought the trailer was one of the best trailers I'd ever seen and I had a feeling it was going to blow me away and immediately be one of my favorite movies ever. While I enjoyed it, it was simply a good movie to me, not a holy shit, that was a life changing theater experience. The trailer didn't allude to a lot of the goofiness (which I was expecting based on it being a Daniels movie but maybe not to this degree), and the 'time travelling' or universe hopping with the different Evelyn's was sort of glossed over a bit more than I thought. I guess I was expecting we'd get more glimpses into those alternate lives and that they'd connect a bit more vs just flying through them.

I also think the core message of the film was clearly stated by about the 2/3's point, and then restated in different ways without any additional layers.

I must be the only one who thought the trailer made this look bad lol. I probably wouldn’t have seen it if it wasn’t for the rave reviews.

I was 100% on board as soon as I saw the trailer. Like, "holy shit, this is the best trailer I've ever seen" on board

Loved, loved, loved this movie when I saw it back at the end of March. I just got the Tax Season zine from A24 which just made me want to see it again.

I work at a Regal movie theater with only 9 screens and what's absolutely insane is the fact that starting this Friday we are bumping Fantastic Beasts and keeping this one. Just massive for a movie that's been out for a while.

This is a bit of a stretch comparison but the theater run/word of mouth for this reminds me of My Big Fat Greek Wedding back in the day. That movie played for months in theaters around here.

Finally got around to seeing this in a surprisingly packed cinema.

Probably my FOTY but I’ll need one or two rewatched. Yeoh and Hsu were incredible.

I had only seen Hsu in Shang-Chi prior to this and didn’t recognize her name when I looked up the cast before watching the film so it was a nice Dalton moment when she appeared.

Saw this today and really enjoyed it! I went with my dad and he was less a fan, but I thought it was great!

Looks like the VOD release got bumped to 6/7, undoubtedly because it keeps doing so well at the box office.

Sucks for the people who don’t have this playing near them or who aren’t comfortable with theaters, but I love that it’s doing so well.

Watching this on a TV is nothing compared to watching it in theaters (saw it on one a small IMAX)

And per above note, I think it got bumped again, because suddenly, iTunes doesn't have a release date listed.

    We'll see!

  21. Saw this last night. I'd been thinking a lot about what all this cultural division today really means and how I sit in that. This movie addressed a lot of those thoughts in unexpected ways.

Humans for all of time have sought after others who can "understand" them. Like interests, goals, experiences... But the flip side of that is vilifying anyone that disagrees. As the world becomes more accessible, we all have more and more thoughts on more and more things. More opportunity for finding like-minded people, sure. But also more opportunity for that vilification and rejection of folks that don't think or feel the same.

It's hard not to use a political lens on that, but I've been trying to focus on the more basic psychology of human interaction instead. This movie was eerily parallel to all that in really fun, heartwarming, and profound way.

From a filmmaking standpoint: I think the first act is a lot less accessible than the following two. There are a lot of "rules" that don't really matter to the core of the film. It's all just really fun artifice on top of a morality play. I feel like this is an important movie. I wonder how that will bear out over the coming years.

It's funny how some are just inside jokes and another one is (presumably) just the VFX team working over Zoom
