Saw them support Deftones when they were on Hot Damn and I thought they sounded cool but never got round to checking their music out properly. Then when Gutter Phenomenon came out I checked it out and liked it, around the same time I saw them again supporting My Chem and was fully sold on the band.
Wonder if I start the brackets or not soon. Was trying to wait for a few to be done but Brand New just started, so there's probably no avoiding overlaps.
Both shows were amazing and was my first time seeing both bands live. I think the gigs were within about 2 years of each other, Deftones were on the self titled at the time at a 5000 cap venue and My Chem were on Three Cheers at a 2,500. I'm seeing ETID for the 5th time in a few months with a proper stacked lineup as Comback Kid, Knocked Loose and Higher Power are supporting. Im so stoked for that gig.
Hope everyone had a fun holiday weekend. I plan to kick this off later on in the afternoon/tonight, so this is an early post to give everyone enough notice ahead of time, as well as let the Linkin Park Tournament wrap up. I have the brackets made and ready to go. Tell everyone who might be interested. <--- ETiDiscography Tournament ---> Before this tournament of voting for the best songs from one of the greatest heavy bands to ever grace the earth kicks off, we have to cover some of the typical ground rules ladies and gents. I will repost the following and keep up with score updates as often as possible until we have narrowed it down to one. As always, all participants should be respectful and considerate of opposing opinions/votes. These tournament brackets are meant to be inclusive and fun for everyone. Open discussion on all rounds and votes is encouraged! In order for your votes to count, you must vote on every match-up in the round. Also, to make it fair across the board, no changing votes once yours are posted. Round lengths will range from a minimum of 10hrs to 24hrs, pending run rules and average voters each round of course. I will be keeping score daily and confirming votes via likes. We will work our way backwards through their discography, starting with Low Teens through to a round of Bonus Tracks released by the band, and then ending with a Championship round. (We will skip over Burial Plot Bidding War EP as it's not a full length record, and the band would probably encourage us to do so anyways.) In order to avoid an uneven Championship round, as well as to keep things interesting, we'll have a Wild Card round between the 8 LP runner-ups for a spot in the finals. Byes are unfortunately necessary in some cases, but all brackets are randomly generated and I will sit out voting unless a tie breaker is required. Championship Round Choices: (Low Teens) (From Parts Unknown) (Ex-Lives) (New Junk Aesthetic) (The Big Dirty) (Gutter Phenomenon) (Hot Damn!) (Last Night In Town) (Bonus Tracks) (Wild Card) <--------------------------------->
Are we starting with Low Teens? I wanna know so I can listen to whichever album is first a couple times today
We are. I'll wait for the championship round in the LP to wrap likely this evening and then I'll have the first Low Teens bracket up. They look like they'll be interesting to say the least.
i guess we'll be including bonus tracks too so thatll be cool. this band just has so much material it'll be fun
So i only have to vote for that round to count? I doubt i'll be able to keep up with each round. but can take the time to do a whole one when i do have time
Yeah if there is a round missed or what not, it's fine, just make sure to vote on all matches included in that round.
Alright it's hitting 9pm on my side of the states so I'm gonna go ahead and kick this into gear. <--- ETiDiscographyTournament ---> Before this tournament of voting for the best songs from one of the greatest heavy bands to ever grace the earth kicks off, we have to cover some of the typical ground rules ladies and gents. (Last Night In Town) (Bonus Tracks) (Wild Card) <---------------------------------> Low Teens (2016) is up. LOW TEENS ROUND 1: The Coin Has A Say VS Fear And Trembling C++ (Love Will Get You Killed) VS 1977 Map Change VS I Didn't Want To Join Your Stupid Cult Anyway Two Summers VS Petal Awful Lot VS Religion Of Speed Round 2 will go as follows LOW TEENS ROUND 2: Match 1 Winner VS It Remembers Match 2 Winner VS Match 3 Winner Glitches VS Match 4 Winner Just As Real But Not As Brightly Lit VS Match 5 Winner
The Coin Has A Say 1977 Map Change Petal Awful Lot The Coin Has A Say vs. Fear And Trembling was the toughest one for me. Both are awesome songs. I like C++ but the last minute of 1977 gives that song the edge. Map Change was a pretty eaay choice there (but the middle of Cult shouldn't be overlooked) Petal over Two Summers was another no brainer for me. Petal might be my favorite on the album and Keith's personal lyrics give the song a lot of depth. I picked Awful Lot because it's a fun song and I just like it more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The Coin Has A Say (Top 5 ETID Song) C++ (Combines some of the best of their "rock" elements with their thrashy hardcore elements. The "if it's a false alarm" portion is straight-up Bon Scott-era AC/DC) Map Change (Absolute beast of a closer in every respect) Petal (one of my top lyrical songs of all time and their best lyrically) Religion of Speed (chorus is massive, acoustic guitar is a nice touch, dig the Metallica-esque feel of the track in general).
