What this tells me more is that Jordan really doesn't need to be responding to random 20-follower Verified Check Twitter users tbh
Low teens era with Daniel was unreal. That album speaks to me in a way very few heavy records ever have. They are brothers and it seems very unlikely the won’t have some event that’s going to bring them back together, whether that is as a band or a family. Honestly hope they are all well. The internet would lose it if they came back. I love better lovers but the big man really brings a lot to the whole etid ethos.
I feel like people (including myself) wouldn't say ETID will return if Better Lovers and Many Eyes were as good as or better than ETID. Granted, ETID is extremely formative for a lot of people so that's a big ask. Now Atomic Rule might have the gas. Need more from them to tell for sure.
I do love Better Lovers and hope they keep expanding the sound. it's not ETID but it has its own appeal (in addition to occasionally sounding a lot like late ETID in ways and to a degree that make sense for the personnel). I understand greg is a polarizing presence for a number of reasons (personally I'd like him to dial up the sass a bit, but I've heard others say they'd like him to tone it down, so, lol) but he's got demonstrable range as a vocalist and musician and I could see them making a truly great record. more of the AiC flavor greg is more than capable of bringing to the table would be welcome imo I have yet to hear a many eyes song I liked unfortunately. fingers crossed atomic rule are good
Was hammered at the Atomic Rule Blissmas preshow but thought they sounded really good. I still think Many Eyes is an extremely watered down butt rock version of ETID and do enjoy BL a lot but I’m still not enamored by Greg as a person or his vocals. And with the writing the way it is, I still can’t get past “It’s ETID with a different vocalist”.
When I was first told that Better Lovers would be revealed soon (by someone that wrote for a UK metal site and had seen the press release early) the person was like "when you see who they got on vocals dude" and my first thought was Josh Scogin. I'm not mad that it's not Josh but Greg does leave something to be desired.
Better Lovers is a great band and I dig everything they’ve put out, caught their set at warped Long Beach and it was also very fun. Hard to replace etid though.
Saw em at Zydeco play Petal. That show was so good. But, my fav ETID set was Furnace Fest 21. Pure euphoria. Even though there was inner band turmoil at the time and no one knew. I think I saw them 5 times? Warped Tour x2 at different years. All Stars tour playing Hot Damn(which, I wasn't even a big fan of at the time - and still I don't latch on to that one as much). Then FF. Maybe another? One warped tour set was weird because the fest got a lightning delay(Atlanta in July). Everyone was ducked in the amphitheater. They started the fest up again and ETID was up immediately, but further out in the parking lot. Since everyone was sheltered they started playing to like 10-20 people or something as I booked it to them when the coast was clear. Weird but it was just one of those things. Got to hear them play Holy Book of Dilemma at one of the Warped Dates which is one of my favs. ---------- In another time line Better Lovers but with Scoggins would be incredible. Love BL current form, but, that would be a treat. -------- That tweet from Jordan is so harsh, damn.
I saw them w/ Underoath, Poison The Well, Maylene & The Sons of Disaster @ palladium in Worcester, MA (The Big Dirty era) w/ Unearth, Sick Of It All, Emmure, Impending Doom, Born Of Osiris, Since The Flood @ palladium in Worcester, MA (The Big Dirty Era. Said they stopped recording new album to come play the show because unearth asked) Warped 2012 in Atlanta (Ex-Lives era) w/ The Chariot, letlive, and Kills and Thrills @ Exit/In in Nashville (Ex-Lives era) headliner w/ locals @ The End in Nashville (From Parts Unknown era)
Idk, to me that whole FF 21 performance was just off. On one hand it was cool to see them on such a large stage at a festival with a huge crowd, but several friends and I for sure felt something was off. To me it felt very phoned in and inauthentic, which was something I hadn’t seen from them ever before
