listened to the songs finally. a colossal wreck is a fucking ripper and I love the little spazzy delayed guitar parts throughout. i wasn't that big into desperate pleasures and don't get the hubub. sounds like a new junk aesthetic b-side. that being said, I'm still super stoked and verrrrrry into a colossal wreck.
Desperate Pleasures is somehow one of the best things this band has written. How do they keep topping themselves? The lyrics blow me away and I absolutely love the post apocalyptic sound guitar at the start and bridge. oh and Colossal Wreck rips too. I’ve barley listened to anything other than these two songs for the last two days.
A Colossal Wreck sounds like Gutter Phenomenon mastered/mixed/produced better (I don’t know which one specifically) and I’m fully on board. That’s an album with a bunch of great songs that I can’t listen to because of how it sounds.
I knew ETID was going to top my 2020 album list, I just didn’t think it was going to be a 2 song EP/single.
Keith is so consistently great lyrically and his talent always blows me away. Him and Aaron Weiss have always been my favorite lyricists (both obviously for veryyy different reasons based on the music and style haha) but yeah, these songs are great. Really excited for what will come next.
Keith just said on his stream that they just heard from epitaph that they're able to "give out a gift" for anyone who has bought/will buy a ticket to 'Tidathon. Not sure what that means but i'm thinking a third song?
According to Jordan’s twitter it was actually Steve who wrote most of the guitar parts for ACW. Interesting.
I was doing ok with missing live shows until these songs came out. That made me flash back hard to their 20 years of bullshit tour with Turnstile and Angel Du$t. That show was almost a spiritual experience for me.
If you guys haven't yet, i suggest tuning into the Hardtimes Twitch streams on Thursdays with Chauncey. Last night they were watching rock of love and the spin offs and it was the hardest i've laughed in a long time
these two new ones rip As a passive etid follower I’m curious where From Parts Unknown sits amongst more seasoned heads. It’s pretty clearly my favorite release and I think working with Kurt Ballou has to do with that pick.
