I just don't see the point of sitting on the album until you're able to tour on it Regardless of when you release it I think people are going to be hyped on the album and excited to see the new songs especially if you're a legacy band like this. If anything they are losing a lot of money this year already by not being able to tour and this is a very easily solution to get some money (preorders/ new merch). Plus fans have more time to spend with the record before the shows happen
If anything it’s a great year to release a record. Nobody has anything going on. When shit resumes release dates will be over-crowded and releases will get overlooked, but not this year. Look how much coverage the HUM album is getting.
I have a hard time that releasing it now would be a make or break thing for them. Their fan base is locked in and has their ear to the ground with regards to news or any other band comings and going’s.
Live music and touring is so far away that it’s hard to imagine them sitting on this for any decent length of time. Even if they plan to tour in the spring or summer, there’s literally no guarantee things will be even close to better or back to normal.
