I saw them the last time they came through Boston. It was a co headlining tour after FPU was released. As always it was a great show.
This reminds me that I have not seen any material from EL or FPU live. They came to my city right after FPU came out, but I wasnt able to make it to the show
Heres my list 1 Roman Holiday 2 Off Broadway 3 Decayin With the Boys 4 Godspeed Us to Sea 5 She's My Rushmore 6 Moor 7 Champing At The Bit 8 Ebolarama 9 Drag King 10 L'Astronaut 11 Pretty Dirty 12 Imitation Is The Sincerest Form of Battery
Yes- nice call! Back in 2004! That show was one of my all-time favorites. Start to finish, the crowd was really into each band. I think after that one, my favorite tour ETID did was back in '07, with Maylene & the Sons of Disaster, Poison the Well, and Underoath, or when they were on the first day of Hellfest back in '04 (the lineup that day was ridiculous). The wealth of awesome bands, tours and festivals made that such a fun time for this kind of music.
Wish they would recreate a South American tour they did a few years ago. It was a co-headlining with them and New Found Glory.
Back in like 2010 I think there was a Four Year Strong/ETID/ Polar Bear Club tour that I was gonna go to but it snowed like a foot and my ride bailed.
Pretty cool on-stage shot video of their entire set from this year's Warped Tour. It's pretty crazy to see them not play Ebolarama or The New Black here. They clearly just have too many great songs/staples of their live set to fit in a half-hour Warped time slot anymore.
I remember taking a Shakespeare course in college and stumbling upon certain lines that obviously inspired some of Keith's lyrics. He's seriously unrivaled as a lyricist, in my opinion.
he borrows/pays homage to a lot of writers and philosophers which is so fucking cool to me. plus, like i said earlier, he kind of gives me a Pete Wentz/Morrissey vibe with his puns and quips and taking common exclamations and turning them on their head. Such a talented lyricist and songwriter.
No Ebolarama is kind of absurd to me as they have played it every time i've seen them. I'll have to watch this later! Thanks for posting!
Aaron Weiss of mewithoutYou >>>>> Yoni Wolf of Why? >>> Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die That's my order, but they're all amazing.
I'm unfamiliar with Why?, but Aaron Weiss is definitely amazing. I'm actually trying to get more into mwY lately, because I've really only heard Catch for Us the Foxes and Brother, Sister. I guess I just meant as far as cleverness and turn of phrase, Keith has most people beat. Dustin Kensrue is probably my favorite lyricist, if I had to choose.
ETID is in VA Beach today.....alas, I will not be going. I'm stuck at work and they play at 3:45. Why oh why is warped: 1. always on a Wednesday in VA Beach. 2. so full of children that I hate being there and refuse to go anymore.
Of course! I know everyone on these ETID threads are really cool, so I thought you'd all enjoy. You're totally right, I remember back during the Hot Damn days, Ebolarama was always their closer, at least the times I saw them back then. Maybe they're mixing up the sets from day-to-day so it'll at least make some appearances during this tour.
mewithoutYou is head and shoulders above any other artist I listen to, so they're my clear number one, and Weiss' lyrics are a big part of that. I recommend all their albums, but their latest, Pale Horses, could potentially be their best album. As far as Why? goes, it's tough to recommend which album or song to listen to. They have four "main" albums, but a lot of EP's, collaborations, etc... One of my favorite lyrics from a song called Against Me: I've been habitually rubbing the sleep from my eyes I see the rain does not respect state lines, why should you?
If you were trying to turn someone on to ETID, what songs would you choose? My girlfriend doesn't really listen to heavy music, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I think The New Black is a good gateway song, but other than that I'm not too sure. We'rewolf maybe? Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Battery?
