I think it just feels like they wrote two decent closers and put both on the record, with the better one first.
oh no the band put two good songs at the end of the album but i like the penultimate one more what am i gonna do
We Go Together has this apocalyptic sense of finality that no other song on the album has. Given how the band ended it somehow feels even more fitting now
"People Verses" might be my favorite song on the record, but I love "We Go Together" as the closer. I get that "I can't get out, I can't get out, I encompass all things..." line and melody stuck in my head a lot.
the thing about that one is invented is the better song but mixtape is the better closer and i feel similarly here
Floater is my all-time fav ETID song and I'm so glad that it never got taken out of their set. Pincushion is honestly the most underrated song imo
We Go Together is good. It’s not on the same tier as Map Change, Idiot, or Indian Giver, but it’s a good closer.
And now for my Radical unpopular opinion… I find myself skipping over Sly a lot. Also don’t find myself returning to TWF, Whip, or Sexsexsex ever.
Idk I don’t think it’s bad but definitely don’t find it up to par with so much of their work, including a lot of this album. People just love the Buffalo line ;). also really enjoy Dark Distance going into Planet Shit on my ETiD playlist.
People Verses or We Go Together could have both worked as closers. I think in times past one or the other would have been left off as a B-Side but it seems like they didn't want to cut anything this time around.
Sly is one that didn’t grab me on the first listen but then I immediately loved it after the second. The riff in the second half of the song is incredibly fun to play on guitar.
i skip most of the first 3 albums on that spotify playlist tbh. i think they really hit their stride with new junk
I’ve got 11 tracks off this album in my AM playlist for them so safe to say 85% of the album clicks for me.
