Putneys production was my biggest gripe with Low Teens, especially those fat modern day metalcore sounding drums. I was expecting an 808 bass drop at any moment. I like the sound of these new songs tho.
The ferocity of FPU is what got me from being a casual fan to a true etidiot. That one has always felt the closest to Hot Damn! in terms of energy.
I feel like this band needs to sound a little unhinged and "we stuck a cheap sm58 infront of an old Marshall cab let's see what happens" and less like bands that play baritone guitars tuned to drop F or whatever
honestly keith’s tweets this weekend and jordan’s over the past year have bugged me enough that my anticipation for this is dwindling though i enjoy everything by the band
The internet is exhausting but helpful to know who is problematic or defends problematic ideas/people.
I tuned into Keith’s stream a few weeks ago and he sounded like some whacked out moron. something is off.
FPU and LT are very close for me for number 1 but FPU gets a slight nod I always thought NJA was top tier also but it does kind of slog in the middle. The first 5 songs are probably their best run of songs in their discog though
1. Ex Lives 2. NJA / FPU (very interchangable) 3. Low Teens 4. The Big Dirty 5. Hot Damn! 6. GP 7. LNIT
He sounded like someone who should be wearing tie dye exclusively. I mean he sounded exactly like those Kanye Tweets read.
NJA is hit after hit. Although I’m the one person I know that doesn’t care about Wanderlust and my friends vehemently bully me for it lmao. For me FPU, LT and NJA are like 10, 9.95 and 9.90 for me lmao.
Aside from the whole “separate the art from the artist” angle of Keith’s tweets, I think what disappoints me the most is that there are artists who have put out great (or even “beautiful” to use his own words) albums this year, from artists Keith is a fan of or who are fans of Keith (Turnstile and Julien Baker are two such examples) that he could talk about and “promote” on his Twitter instead but nah it has to be the guy who has a million controversies and just brought out Marilyn Manson and DaBaby on stage.
White Smoke- Host Disorder are all solid but also kind of samey to me and it just kind of slogs there. I think on their own they are good though. Revolution and Sweet Life are great Buffalo 666 also should have definitely made the album. Wanderlust is top tier haha
Buffalo 666 should absolutely replace one of those songs. Never a big fan of host disorder or organ grinder
Low Teens, FPU and Hot Damn round out my top 3 but even Last Night in Town is still a really solid record to me. Gutter Phenomenon gets second-last solely because of the production
I know the Keith donda stuff bums me out but holy FUCK I wanna listen to this album. It just hit me more than usual with starting a new job that's draining me, I need something to keep me going
