Jason, why do you hate Hot Damn! so much? I don’t see any scribbles for it.

  9. It came out in what 2003? 4?

I reset my last.fm stats at some point, I think in like 2010-15 or something but don’t remember exactly. Most of the HD listening would be pre that. I also only recently started letting phone and Apple Music catch everything again. So it’s not that accurate comparatively.

but I also haven’t listened to that album in a while, and do like it

I’ve had this conversation many times lately with my girlfriend. Hot Damn, while it’s a classic and has some absolute bangers, is not that good compared to the rest of ETID’s discography. I know too many people who are like “HOT DAMN IS THEIR BEST ALBUM, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.” Like, please get your head out of 2003, have you listened to FPU or NJA? Come on lmao. Honest to god I rank HD! in the bottom half of my favorite etid records.

they get better with every release really and I would say low teens is their best work, but NJA is prettttty close and perhaps my favorite

All of them are great but Ex Lives is probably my least listened to these days. Joe Barresi's mix doesn't really gel with their sound imo, not punchy enough

Putney is definitely the best producer for them imo. Kurt was great too.

The Big Dirty is my favorite and Low Teens is probably their best, but Hot Damn definitely deserves a place on that medal stand.

I will not be part of any revisionist history trying to devalue Hot Damn. Everything you love about this band has been established on that record.
