Pretty sure mine was after I heard the praise for Ex-Lives and seeked out the album...got smacked in the face with I WANT TO BE DEAD WITH MY FRIENDDDDDDDDDS
Ebolarama for me, but didn’t really listen to more until Gutter Phenomenon came out since many of my friends were obsessed with it. The Big Dirty was the one that made me a big fan though
Decayin With the Boys was on one of the Warped Compilations, I think 2015. Changed a man's life I tell you what
I don't get sad listening to ETID, but it is definitely a bummer to think about the ending/probably never getting any more music from them.
I was aware of The New Black from GH but a friend of mine had TBD on cd and hearing that in his car sealed the deal
introduced through we’rewolf (or whatever) checked out the burial plot bidding war ep, and then bought a new junk aesthetic cd which i still love to this day
It took me a couple tries to get into them. First heard Kill The Music on a sampler CD or on a videogame (I don't remember) and didn't really think much of it. Then tried to get into the band in spring 2009 by listening to their albums while playing Counter Strike, same case. I remember thinking it all blurred together. Then Wanderlust came out and my ears perked, and I got big into New Junk Aesthetic when it came out. Have been a fan since.
I heard they had a song out that referenced the movie Rushmore and that's how I got into them way back in 2003. I get a little bit sad when I listen to them. RIP
I forget exactly where I heard it, but The New Black was definitely my intro to them, and then I downloaded Gutter Phenomenon and burned it to CD. Maybe the music video on FUSE? I think I bought an actual copy at some point.
Driving around in high school in 2003 with a kid from the grade above me, he put in the Hot Damn CD and lost his mind, I was in.
Dude I knew in high school randomly leant me Hot Damn, Dillinger Escape Plan's Miss Machine and Scarlet's Cult Classic one day. I never thanked him for that.
It's honestly kind of wild how people I wasn't even super close to affected my music taste for life. My older brother's best friend picked me up from basketball camp one day when I was a kid and had a HUGE CD collection. He told me I could pick anything and borrow it. For some reason, I picked White Pony by Deftones. The rest is history. The other one was a counselor I had on a church youth group trip. He had a portable CD player with wired speakers he hooked up in our room, and said, "This is a dude singing, he doesn't look at all like you would expect, but the album rules". It was Coheed's In Keeping Secrets. Those two moments were probably more pivotal to my music taste, and they were guided by two people I haven't talked to in over 10 years. I think I told the guy who introduced Cohered to me that they became my favorite band, and he was just like, "oh, cool, yeah, I remember liking that album." haha
I believe The New Black was the first song I heard by them. I think it was on one of the CD/DVD Take Action compilations
My introduction to ETID was on the Hellfest DVD - Burial Plot Bidding War!! Back in 2001. That and Last Night In Town were my introduction
The tag champs here are called Tye or Dye and came out to "Life is a Highway". New favorite tag team.
Not ashamed to admit that I got into ETID late after seeing the 'Ebolarama' music video. I do live in England at the end of the day, though! I proceded to get tickets to see them live with Atreyu and From First To Last (Sonny era). This must have been around 2006? It was a pretty infamous tour over here because Sonny Moore couldn't complete it due to throat issues. It caused major drama.
